Interesting stat in the racing post

The turnbull stakes has produced 7 winners since 2005
The race was won by reigning champ Gold Trip this year comfortably
He was the selection of pricewise at 10/1

Been chipping away on Duke De Sessa for this. Whilst I was quite impressed with Gold Trip's performance in the Turnbull, Duke De Sessa ran well given the pace of the race. He doesn't have the speed that Gold Trip evidently has. I see him as a big player for the Caulfield Cup as well as he should be better off at the weights. He's been running creditably over 7F and a mile behind Mr Brightside but connections on record saying the Turnbull should bring him on for the Caulfield Cup.
With Gold Trip possibly headed for the Cox Plate, I think Duke De Sessa is the stable alpha choice for the Caulfield Cup.Comment

Decided to back Valiant King for the Caulfied Cup and Melbourne Cup today. 25s and 50s. Every chance he gets balloted out of the second, if he doesn't win the first anyway.

IS THERE A DRAW BIAS IN THE MELBOURNE CUP?
There really isn’t a barrier bias in the Melbourne Cup and as you can see in the past 20 years, horses have won from the inside (Prince Of Penzance – barrier 1) and out wide (Vow And Declare and Shocking – barrier 21). A long-standing hoodoo was broken in 2021 with Verry Elleegant becoming the first horse to win from barrier 18. Barrier 15 has also only had one success (1973) while barriers 2, 7 and 20 have only produced two winners each. Barrier 5 has been the most successful gate in the Melbourne Cup with eight winners, followed by barrier 11 (7 wins) and 10 and 14 with six wins apiece. Historically, drawing anywhere from barrier 5 to 14 should give your horse the best chance.
Barrier 5 , 10, 11 or 14 for Big 'V' then.
Clearly no real draw bias though.
