Been watching old races back - it's basically a sprint for the first few furlongs before being steadied right down. Hopefully Ryan breaks well and manages to grab the inner rail without using too much energy. He can then sit on the front end lobbing along because I can't see loads of pace in the race. That will obviously suit the wall of closers in behind. For that reason I'd like Ryan to wind Vauban up sooner rather than later. If he can take a few lengths out the field on the front end around the 1000-800m mark then I hope he has the ability to find more than the others turning for home.

One punter attempted to make a bet of $400,000 at $5 on Vauban, but no bookmaker would accept the bet.
