Storm Damage @ 9/1 (B365) in the Godolphin Mile looks like one to side with to get the weekend off to a flyer.

The big question is will be cope with a mile on dirt the way he does on turf? I think he will.

He won on debut on the AW and is by Night Of Thunder who produced a UAE Guineas winner, and is a son of the track's leading sire, Dubawi.

His speed is a massive asset. He broke his own turf track record at Meydan LTO and if he hits the front I think he'll stay there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HOFdcZczyo

He's the best horse on ratings, is 2 from 2 over a mile and 9/1 just looks too big and he's 11/2 in places elsewhere.

Looks like some very competitive racing

The sheema classic in particular looks a belter seeing horses like pyledriver, alenquer and dubai honor all at nice prices is interesting

Will dive into the cards on Friday night or Saturday morning

SCHNELL MEISTER @ 5/2 NRNB B365 Dubai Turf

AUTHORITY @ 6/1 NRNB B365 Dubai Sheema Classic

      Singles and a double @ 23.5/1

      Edit

Also like SHAHRYAR in the Dubai Sheema Classic so have done the SCHNELL MEISTER double @ 14.75/1 and won't be able to resist a little single if his price drifts

Yeah, I'll probably add a few when the each way extra and exotics are available too.

I like the Meydan Thursday meetings and then always struggle on World Cup night itself but still...

Agree Storm Damage is interesting and going from the front is an advantage at Meydan. There's a few in the Godolphin Mile that like to lead though isn't there, so could be quite a battle on up front. I'd considered Secret Ambition for a repeat win but he won't get such an easy time on the front end this year. Might end up leaving that race.

In the Dubai Gold Cup Manabo be hard to beat but I'm going to take a chance on Stay Foolish e/w at 7s. Impressive from the front in Saudi on his first run over staying trips for a good while. Lemaire kept the ride so will probably be looking to repeat those tactics.

Turf sprint looks a good race on paper as well. I'm not going to get too stuck into it though because it's the kind of race where the one (fav) with the recent course form beats all the others that on back form look much better horses... I'll leave it.

Dr Schivel looks solid enough to me in the dirt sprint. That 2nd in the breeders cup sprint the best bit of form on offer here. 11/4 seems fair enough.

Sheema classic does look very good. Need to have a proper look through some of them but agree Dubai Honour at 10/1 caught my eye. Shaped like he'd handle the extra 2 furlongs in Hong Kong, and seemed fine on the ground there so not sure why they're raising it as a concern.

American's will probably dominate the World Cup itself but I'm going to give Real World another shot at a very big price. Don't think it was the intention to get so far back in Saudi and hoping he can jump out a bit more prominently here. Drawn 6 should be fine but Americans either side of him who are usually fast from the gate. 25/1 at the moment enough for a small interest from me.

Benjy23 I think you're spot on with Stay Foolish. Lord North @ 5/1 is a good bet IMO in the Dubai Turf, smashing him.

A little lord north/alenquer Lingfield related double gotta be worth throwing a couple of quid at

Alenquer mustve improved from 3 to 4 to do that at Lingfield, i wasnt expecting the track or trip to suit him at all

Yea, quite like that related double. I'm sold.

Lord North won the Turf very easily last year didn't he. Repeat of that would be good enough I reckon. Same stall as well. Hopefully come on a fair bit for that Lingfield run though and did burst a blood vessel in this last year and then miss the rest of the season. Assume that's why he's as big as 5/1 though.

I do think there is quite a lot of value in the 'to place' market, especially with Skybet paying 5 places on lots of races. For example, Storm Damage (5), Stay Foolish (3), Casa Creed (5) and Authority (5) all to place pays 11/1.

A combination tricast in a flat sprint sounds like madness, but given near side high draw track bias, I think Man Of Promise (12), A Case Of You (16) and Casa Creed (15) could be a decent small play given where they are drawn.

I'm liking your selection Storm Damage here charlie He has a nice draw and factor in that Christophe Soumillon is on board I think he has a real live chance... I'm on!

                        Edit
A Christophe Soumillon double with Glory Vase looks nice too.

Japanese winner of the first from the front... A sign of things to come?

Hopefully in the next and then not for the rest of the card

Maybe he doesn't need to get to the front after all. Will take the win though!

2nd lost that race early on hasn't he.
