I'm firmly in the Mohaather camp for tomorrow's Sussex Stakes and have gone in again after seeing Paddy's offering 3/1.

I don't like courses where jocks have ready made excuses before they even get on the horse. Goodwood must be top of that list. I prefer them to actually lose a bit of ground for a clear run rather than just ride for luck up the inside.

Santiago reminds me a little of Stradivarius. Surely with that weight concession he should be troubling the favourite who we already know isn't unbeatable?

I would have been much more hopeful of Au Clair De Lune without the rain. Hopefully, it will dry back to good.

Elsewhere, I am a little puzzled by this season's version of Duke Of Hazzard. Two runs and on both occasions he has travelled well enough without finishing his race off. I think there is more to it than simply dropping him back in trip and I have no idea why they have ditched P J McDonald.

Two out of two disappointments.

Santiago had the run of the race and was made to look like a slow boat. It makes you wonder (again) about the standard of the three-year-olds. A decent Derby winner should be making more of that sort of weight concession.

Terrible ride by Curtis in the last somehow thinking it might be a good idea to chase a ludicrous pace. The two rags finished tailed off.

I thought Waliyak was unlucky not to win at Royal Ascot and the form has been boosted by the winner. She should win tomorrow. Sarvan is improving nicely but unfortunately I am not so sure the same can be said about the jock. Spright is a speedy filly with a bit of scope who should cope with the drop in trip. Hopefully, Gordon can get a nice toe in from Zhui Feng and avoid getting boxed in. Society Lion quickened well last time but stall 16 4/1?

Elsewhere I am surprised at the support for Steel Bull given that Goodwood and Naas are chalk and cheese. The Sussex looks competitive but I seriously doubt that there is a real top notch miler in the race. It will probably come down to who gets the breaks on the day.

Santiago had a great race position, in what looked like a slowish run race, sitting just off Nayef Road.

The fact he couldn’t Get past Nayef Road receiving 15lbs is really disappointing, especially for his chances in the St Leger now.

Is being 3 lengths better than Eagles by Day going to be enough at Donny?
OR
Is being a length and a quarter worse than Nayef Road going to be enough at Donny?
OR
Going back to the Queens Vase, is being 2&1/2 lengths better than Berkshire Rocco going to be enough at Donny?

Today will only encourage a lot more participants from England to have a stab at the race, if Love and Serpentine really do go elsewhere and Ryan Moore gets on Santiago as AOB’s best.

Can't wait for the Sussex Stakes. It looks to be the best race of the week IMO. Would love to see Mohaather sprint clear in the last furlong.

Sussex Stakes.

A fantastic race, and I probably should not have a bet.
But Kameko 11-2 just seems too big.
This race tends to go to 3 year olds when the good ones run in it.
The eight pounds is a lot to give.

I like Mohather and respect Siskin and the rest.
But Mohather's price seems shortish when you look at the bare form of his (admittedly impressive) win last time out.
The horse he beat into second is 40-1 rag tomorrow.
Siskin's price seems short once again, as his form still lacks depth, although I said as much last time and he won really nicely.

I appreciate the Guineas form is also not rock solid, but it's a price thing, as he's 11-2.
