Have some how ended up with 3 live accas all rolling onto Arrigato, and I appreciate this is aftertiming. I just hate this nervousness when there's something on the line, most of my multiples die at the first stage!

Two out of two disappointments.

Santiago had the run of the race and was made to look like a slow boat. It makes you wonder (again) about the standard of the three-year-olds. A decent Derby winner should be making more of that sort of weight concession.

Terrible ride by Curtis in the last somehow thinking it might be a good idea to chase a ludicrous pace. The two rags finished tailed off.

I thought Waliyak was unlucky not to win at Royal Ascot and the form has been boosted by the winner. She should win tomorrow. Sarvan is improving nicely but unfortunately I am not so sure the same can be said about the jock. Spright is a speedy filly with a bit of scope who should cope with the drop in trip. Hopefully, Gordon can get a nice toe in from Zhui Feng and avoid getting boxed in. Society Lion quickened well last time but stall 16 4/1?

Elsewhere I am surprised at the support for Steel Bull given that Goodwood and Naas are chalk and cheese. The Sussex looks competitive but I seriously doubt that there is a real top notch miler in the race. It will probably come down to who gets the breaks on the day.

Silly me congratulating myself on getting 5/2 and 100/30 on Waliyak and Spright. Waliyak was my best of the week. At this rate she could still be. I think Waliyak has run way below the Ascot form but it is still frustrating when a horse is stepped up in trip and then ridden like a non-stayer. Waliyak has been ridden forward and that proved the place to be in this race. Having chased a ridiculous pace yesterday Curtis showed his versatility today in dropping a horse out in a slowly race with the consequence he pulled too hard. I suspect both those Scott horses are better than they have been allowed to show. Spright didn't cope with the drop in trip although she wasn't helped by the Johnston spoiler. I was just thinking that there haven't been that many hard luck stories this week. Step forward Arigato and Josephine Gordon. That was horrendous and it wasn't far off 1/100 that it was going to happen after a furlong. Gordon's career has nose dived and that sort of thing doesn't help.

Steel Bull wasn't inconvenienced by the drop back albeit in a weak looking Group 3. Mohaather was obviously the star of show and hopefully there will still be time for him to lay claim to being a top notcher. Nice to see Tregoning have another day in the sun.

One last chance for Qaader. There is a worry over his temperament and whether three races will have taken their toll but the quick ground should be much closer to his ideal. Nazeef is by no means a certain stayer but I am prepared to stick with her until she is beaten. I don't want to jinx him but I would have no hesitation in choosing Crowley as the go to man at the top table this season. Miss Chess shaped very nicely (albeit missing the break) on debut and the winner ran pretty well in listed company at Ascot on Saturday.

Just a quick addition. I haven't backed anything but I think English King is very short judged on his very one-paced effort in the Derby. The Trial run looks overrated. He didn't have the gear change to do anything at Epsom. Perhaps Dettori might realise as much and try and nick this from the front?

Backed Qaader a second time. Even with the doubts 5/1 looks too big. Added Al Aasy EW. I suspect Haggas will be keeping an eye on ground but despite the penalty I think he can give the favourite something to think about. English King has disappointed two out of three times on turf and surely he needs more than the substance of that Lingfield win to justify his short price.

Main bet would be Vale Of Kent as he ran a cracker in this race last year after managing to get the lead from stall 17. This year he is berthed perfectly in stall 3. He's 7llbs higher and his form has been up and down like a lot of Johnston's horses but if he can get the lead, I think he should finish in the top 4 at least. I took 12s last night but see he has already shortened this morning and is now top price of 11s with a couple of firms.
