  • This would seem to be Britain and Ireland strongest batch of runners for a while. My only concern is that very few have specifically been laid out for the breeders cup. I’d say only battleground, mogul and cayenne pepper seemed to be horses where they were likely a while ago to run here.
The yanks seem too be very bullish about their turf runners and having watched a few previews from USA firms they only seem to fancy tarnawa, peaceful and new mandate. I’ll have a good study of the us form tonight then come up with my tips then. In my mind you can over analyse their races. Stick to a few tried and trusted methods.

i have high hopes that Campanelle can deal with the step up in trip to a mile, as we all know it’s a two turn mile so slightly easier and when you look at her performance in the prix Morny, it was heavy going and into a head wind so I have confidence in her as a pick, 9/2 looks a good price

      • With my American form book fresh in my head I have one American selection whose price baffles me, and that’s Art Collector in the Dirt Mile, he’s a horse with great gate speed so the 1 draw doesn’t bother me in the slightest, he’s the best form in the book when you look into it, you can ignore his run in the Preakness last time out but he still finished 4th, back at a mile he will be going straight to the front from the inside draw and I expect him to stay there to be honest, will take a very good one to get past him in my opinion, 8/1 looks a steal

        • I see Sky are 5 places in the Mile so I think Lope Y Fernandez is an excellent EW bet. I've scrambled around to get on at 20s but he has dropped slightly to 18s now which is still value IMO. I think he will have his ideal conditions on Saturday in fast ground, an easy mile, a good draw and Frankie on board. Ignore his form with soft in the going and you see that he has some excellent form just behind the likes of Space Blues and Pinatubo who I think are top draw.

          • Wesley Ward on Golden Pal:

‘He’s the favourite, and everybody knows what I think of this horse,” said Ward.

“That (stall 14) is the hole I would have picked if I was given the choice. He’s outside and he shouldn’t have any issues, whereas if he was drawn on the inside or in the middle and broke a step slow, he could encounter traffic.

“I will be disappointed if he doesn’t win. We’re excited for all the runners, but this guy has shown so much talent and ability from early on, we’ve got big hopes.”

He was originally going to be my choice but, by american standards he has been off the track quite a long time. There are also features with the connections on YouTube but I didn't sense that much confidence. If he can reproduce his early season form then 8/1 would look a decent price, but he has been that price for a while and not attracted any support.

If the horse is as good as wesley thinks he's gonna take plenty of beating in the king stand if he turns up

Inthemidstofbiz has been scratched as a longshot from the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint after being found Thursday morning at Keeneland to have a slight fever.

                    • Evening everyone. Firstly, well in on some of those prices on Golden Pal. I did say when the 4/1 was posted at the time that I wouldn’t be playing as I’m skipping the BC this year cos it gets on my tits how wrong I get it.

HOWEVER.. I’ve decided as usual that I’ll get involved in all of the races with smaller stakes. Probably do a couple of Heinz and Canadians as well for the craic.

Haven’t started looking yet as I’ll be doing it tonight now I’ve finished uni for the week and have some time to spare. Expect me to post my horses up at 6:17am or something equally nocturnal. Hoping to go through the meeting in about 6 hours if that’s doable.

Two questions for the good folk on here:
                      1) What’s the most likeliest winner of the 2 days do you think? Regardless of the price..

                      2) Anyone tempted to lay a few of the shorties since it’s back at the bloody dog track again. Vaguely remember last time it was at Keeneland I had 1 winner across the two days and almost every favourite was beaten. I swore I’d lay the favourite every race the next time it was there so I am quite tempted. Would like to know the answer to a few judges on question 1 before I potentially do start laying some shorties.

                      Thanks in advance lads.

I said to myself last year to leave the Breeders Cup alone but you just can't can you! The most likely winner is Golden Pal in my opinion and I have gone in heavy with him as a max bet and then in plenty of multiples. The other shorties I've used are Gamin and Monomoy Girl. If those 3 win, I'll be seriously happy. Other bets I've had are below where I've concentrated on the turf races as the European horses tend to be stronger.(Campanelle has Euro form, Uni is US but I like her).

                        Friday
                        20.10 - Cadillac
                        21.30 - Campanelle

                        Saturday
                        18.57 - Peaceful
                        20.15 - Uni/Lope Y Fernandez

                        • Sky have Golden Pal with Southampton to beat Newcastle boosted to 5/1 which seems a decent price for those not on.

Saints at home and flying just now.

He’s only been off for 35 days so that’s no issue at all, I wouldn’t be backing anything at the Breeders Cup that had run in the last 4 weeks, I’d be surprised if there’s any horses entered up in any of the races who have had much less time than 4-5 weeks off, been a slight move for him in the last day, generally 13/2 now, can still see him shortening more by the off tomorrow, likely sp of 5/1-11/2

The only short price fav I’d be tempted to take on is Princess Noor in the juvenile fillies, she could be a world beater but she hasn’t put the speed figures up yet for all she has looked impressive, so I wouldn’t strongly recommend laying her but for a 7 runner field the other 6 are no mugs, Dayoutoftheoffice is particularly quick...

and for the shortie of the meet special, I put Golden Pal up a while back which I’m glad to see people got on at the bigger prices, so I can’t abandon him but for an extra kicker in the price tonight I will be doubling up with Jackie’s Warrior he looks solid and have no issue with the extra half furlong
