I suppose the starting point is the ground. Looking at the maps there appears to be plenty of showers heading in that direction. Will soft appear somewhere in the description?

I have already backed a few but my results either side of Royal Ascot have been desperate.

On the first day I have the following:-

    Al Aasy
    Lord Campari
    Exceptional (EW)

Al Aasy has been supported but he would be the one I would be most concerned about should the ground turn soft.

Although I have backed Qaader for the Guineas I left him out because of similar concerns.

Little bit surprised there are two handicaps not even priced up yet.

@kinloch, why is soft a worry for Al Aasy?

Lord Campari did look a serious tool winning his maiden.

I'll probably back Woven in the 12.45- thought he ran pretty well at RA.

3.35, i'll have to spend sometime on, as i backed dancin inthestreet when she had a terrible passage behind Art Power who looks proper top sprinter. So, only up 2pds and with Fallon back on she could be tough to beat. This is a totally different race though, and horses like brad the brief bring open company form.

I backed Dancin Inthestreet yesterday at 4s thinking he would be shorter after being declared but he opened at 5s and 5places EW! So I had another pt today. I just think this horse is seriously well handicapped and Fallon taking a further 3lbs off just makes it a stronger fancy. He would have one his first race of the season if he wasn't blocked, he got blocked again at Royal Ascot and would have come a clear second to Art Power. The step up in trip will suit him and he won't mind the rain either. 2nd fav is Lexington Dash who Dancin beat last year AND will also now be better off by 13lbs. Appreciate the race was last year on the AW and LD has obviously improved but Dancin Inthestreet will have too but just not been able to show it yet. Hopefully he will on Thursday...

If I see a Sea The Stars my first thought is good ground. I went back and watched his last race and he doesn't have a soft ground action. It could well have been a poor race and on the day he just coped better with ground and trip? His previous run has worked out well.

I hope you haven't wrecked the market with Woven because that's the one I was looking at as well.

Fair point KB, i haven't rewatched the run since the day of the race. I haven't bet in the race, just thought i'd see your view as he has some form on it. Could've been a poor race as you say though.

Woven opens up at 17/2 .

Despite still berating Shepherd for Folk Dance I would take that price if I could, particularly with four places. Unfortunately, I can't and it wouldn't surprise me if the best I can get is 6/1 three places. Obviously, hope I am wrong.

Lord Campari appears to have been smashed up for some reason. Fingers crossed that Atzeni just keeps it simple again.

Hugh Taylor has tipped it today in his 'daily' column for tomorrow.

He did look very good didn't he. Obviously only a novice race he won.

Shepherd's in good form at least! Hills aren't the great, i can bet with them but to a very limited amount.

Mohaather at 3/1 for saturdays race is a good bet

Crowley did get him beat at ascot last week so hopefully this time he remembers not to trap him on the rail

Added Woven at 10/1 EW to give me four on the day.

Of the remaining four races I doubt very much I will get involved. There are no standout pedigrees or obvious soft ground pedigrees in the opener. Many will see Maydanny as a penalty kick but for me Johnston and short prices are something I try and avoid. He was beaten on heavy ground last year and the winner has hardly beaten a rival in four starts since. I have already mentioned the ground doubt about Qaader and if I remember correctly he also got quite stirred up before the Coventry. On the plus side it was a very quick reappearance. The last race is likely to be won by the horse least inconvenienced by the ground. I can't believe the ground will be better than good to soft and given the ground being on the quick side at the entry stage there might be several non runners.

Is anyone giving Al Suhail another chance after the Guineas display?

Yep looked a little deeper into that race im happy to have a go on lexington i did like meeras but i reckon hed get reeled in..im also interested in qadeer just couldnt get past the 150/1 nag at ascot but the pair came away from that field 2-3 lengths so id say based on his 2 runs hes got a good chance tommorow so ill be backing the double aswell for a bit of midweek cheese!
