Don’t fancy the horse in any way whatsoever but I’ve just had a fiver at 180.0. As you say, can’t ignore a previous winner of a group 1 race in the same race two years later. Just impossible to ignore.

Another big price Tuesday selection for me is Ashutor - 33/1 6 places

Talented flat performer in France, just touched off at his first try over 1m 6f by a horse who subsequently won at Listed level. Ashutor's most recent run on the flat (less than 2 years ago) saw him get within 2 1/2 lengths of Call The Wind.

Sent to Paul Nicholls for a hurdling career and finally got off the mark at Catterick in Feb this year after being the beaten favourite on a few occasions. Apparently works like a really good horse but hasn't always put his best foot forward on the track. However, he's in good hands and it wouldn't surprise if the horse started to show some of that potential as he's only a 6yo. It may just be that the horse appreciates a return to the flat and it's very interesting that Megan Nicholls takes the ride. Megan rides all of Paul's on the flat and she must surely have had the option of San Benedeto who is much shorter in the market. Paul/Megan have had 2 winners from 4 runners since the restart.
Picked this out myself for all same reasons yesterday but waited for any price moves
Just took 44-5/1 wh 5 places 1pt ew
Was going to write up like you Viking but saved me a job
      Fingers crossed

I've done same Q - was greedily holding out for bigger or one of the 6 place firms but I'm not risking it having just seen Lad/Cor have cut to 20s!

Had some myself. Backed him 2 years ago when he won at 33s. Only backed it because Paul Kealy tipped it. Can't go wrong at 170s

Jesus the bandwagon will grind to a halt with the weight of you lot on it.

180.0 I've had a fiver on just because it'd have annoyed me that an 80/1 tip isn't good enough

Amazed to discover this is only Paul Nicholls second runner in the Ascot Stakes in more than 20 years (I checked back to 1999).

Surprised he's not made it more of a target in the past.

His last runner was an exposed 25-1 shot called High Secret who came 9th to Thomas Hobson in 2017 - that one was also ridden by Megan.

Maybe Nicholls has seen an opportunity this year with all the Irish staying away.

Duly topped up at 44-1 with WH.

Anyhow, Ashutor's only been out of the first 5 once in 9 starts on the flat.

Cieren Fallon drove home a 200/1 winner earlier this week.

2 rides tomorrow at Ascot, I've taken 100.0 for Habub in the opener.

Guessing that he'll be riding with so much confidence that he feels he can win on anything and as it's the first time he's ridden him I am having a very speculative bet on him.

He isn't well handicapped or anything like that, but he's not absolutely devoid of hope. He's only had 1 turf run so maybe he'll improve on his AW form as he's technically unexposed on the surface.

They've also slapped some blinkers but looping back to the original point, it's mainly hopeful that Fallon can muster up some magic on him in a difficult looking start to the week.

                  ....Ben Linfoot has posted his first day selections on the Sporting Life website;

                  1.15; Cliffs of Capri 16-1; Firmament 22-1.

                  1.50; Mushtashry 16-1

                  2.25; Passion 13/2

                  3.35; Liberty Beach 10-1

Personally, the one I like is Keyser Soze in the first.

I'd picked Mustashry & Roseman out on Sunday.
Took the 16-1 & 25-1 on betfair and 1pt each + half point on the obligatory Accidental agent having backed it last year also.

                    Motakhayyel 1pt 14-1 betfair also.

As Hugh Taylor puts up Moon King in the 16:40, it links in to a much more obvious case I was just about to make for Cieren Fallon's only other ride of the day. Blue Laureate, who was beaten a head by Hugh's selection last time out. He is 2lbs better off after Moon King's penalty and although over a different distance, he's already placed over 2m7f the time before.
Also, Ian Williams is not a trainer to ignore.

So I've backed at 18/1 (5 places) with Lads.... and added Moon King at 11/1 as well because Hugh is better than me

I've been very close to making Blue Laureate my 2nd bet in this race but wanted a little more than 14s. I can't get the 18s.

I like Roseman too Q but I was worried that he wants soft to be effective. I think it's an interesting market, there are some decent prices outside the top 2 in the betting who don't look infallable.

Anyone know what to expect in terms of the ground this week? The weather seems really unpredictable, might be some heavy downpours.

                            Trefoil - 5/1 (3 places)

15:00 - King Edward VII Stakes (Group 2)No single

                            15:35 - King's Stand Stakes (Group 1)
                            No single

16:10 - Duke Of Cambridge Stakes (Fillies' Group 2)
                            Lavenders Blue 11/2 (4 places)

                            Moon King 11/1 (5 places)

Only other bet for Day 1 is a 6.67/1 treble on Frankly Darling, Mogul, Battash

Gone fishing at massive prices in the opening 2 races so not expecting a lot.
Will be disappointed if Trefoil can't hit the frame in the Ribblesdale. If she wins I'll roll it on to Battash for a bit of excitement though.
Won't have a bet in the 3.00 and only interest will be if Frankly Darling has won but not a great race IMO.
Absolutely no chance I'd have a single on Battash if I haven't won anything in the races prior, as he's about as consistent as fairy liquid bubbles. I'd put profit on him though.
Quite hopeful in the last two races.
Will try not to add anything else.

                            Good luck everyone.

Added Shelir ew in the 1:50 at 40/1.

Raced keenly at Newmarket last week and came with a run before folding tamely in the final furlong. It was his first run for a new stable, having moved from Weld to O'Meara, and it wasn't without promise. I'm hoping the recent run and drop in trip will see him in better light at a huge price.

                              0.5pt ew Shelir 40/1 (5 places)
