  • Agree that grand visir looks a decent each way play at the prices. Little each way at 20/1 with the 6 places.

Arcadian Sunrise my other play in the race. Won well at York last summer so interesting enough they're coming back over and Spencer booked again. Fairly consistent as well, other than last run of last season on heavy ground. 12/1 with 6 places will do.

Tiny bet on John Leeper tomorrow at 16s as well.

      • Lovely value on mine at least! Joking aside, I'll take the place after how keen he was. Will win a big staying handicap later in the season imo. One to keep an eye on.

Ryan Moore been too good this week. 8 from 11 rides.

              Enemy 11/4

Should’ve won last time but got stuck behind a wall of horses and never got the gap

Hopefully better luck in running today

Think Quickthorn will frank the form of Champion Stayer Trueshan who i think will prove himself the best Stayer around again in the Ascot Gold Cup this year. Quickthorn trainer would not be running if Trueshan had taken his entry up which says a lot. Sounds very much like he'll take his chance at RA this year as long as the ground is safe. Can't quite believe his current price of 7/2. If trained by AOB he'd be closer to evens. He's a seriously good animal and his partnership with Hollie Doyle is something else. Hollie says he's developed again this year so watch out everything else !

                • Enemy would've definitely finished ahead of quickthorn last time with any kind of clear run so I'd be hoping he'd reverse that form

But these are horses and its rarely that simple

I'd be surprised if one of us didn't have the winner

I've not backed him. Just want him to win to uphold the Trueshan form once again. Great to see the poorer relation jump trainers get one over on the likes of Godsen and O'Brien.

                    • Some seriously bad rides there

Half the field given zero chance being held up way back off the pace for no reason including enemy

Quickthorn hung on gamely in the end

Thought it was just a superb ride from jockey. Took bull by horns and said catch me if you can. Rode him as if he was the best Stayer and he was. Had them strung out and all at it half a mile out. Won quite cosily going away again at the line. Big positive for Trueshan who beat him easily, giving weight over a distance too short. Can't wait to see that one in a few weeks time.

He didn't set a strong pace so there was no reason for them to be that strung out other than the jockeys at the back badly misjudging the situation

                              • The form of current Chesham/2000 Guineas fav Alfie Mullins, who was ultra impressive on his debut , is tested tonight when the 2nd home Segomo runs in the 5.10 at The Curragh. AOB rates AM very highly so Segomo must have a good chance of franking the form.
