    • Like the Hustler, I've backed Willie John also.

Think Top Rank is very good price at 6-1, as he looked better than what he achieved at York the last time,

Also backed Came from the Dark at Haydock who just has a very good record at the track on the ground, and has probably been aimed at this meeting. Just took the 8's with 365.

      2-50 Haydock -
Finniston Farm's run over shorter at haydock early this season looks good form.
He ran that day like he needed a step up in trip, as he appeared to get swamped only to run on again in between horses to get 5th place.

I took the 44-1 boosted with WH earlier this afternoon.
He's been running in France since then, at a lower level for better money. but this race is even better money and I reckon they may have had this race in mind all season, given his record at the track his price seemed too big. His best ever race was on softish ground at haydock over 1m 4f 2 years ago when with tom dascombe, and only recently has he been tried over that distance in france and tomorrows distance the last day for the first time.

Having said all that, I hate the trainer and the race is shit hot. Be happy with a place I reckon.

      • I think they’re all going to have to improve to beat Stormy Antarctic today. He sets the bar high for a few likely improvers but he’s got his favoured conditions, which won’t suit everyone. COME ON STORMY.

On a separate note, I fancied 3 horses to place yesterday, LAAFY, A CASE OF YOU and HYPERFOCUS. I had quite large stakes on the place only bets. I didn’t double or treble them. You can imagine my horror when all three have won comfortably. Last night was filled with dreams of what might have been.

        Onwards and upwards

        • Just the two for me today, both at Haydock.

I backed Just In Time at York last month and he traveled really well before appearing not to stay the 2 miles. The drop in trip should suit and I'd imagine he'll be last off the bridle, whether he'll find anything is another matter.

Art Power in the super sprint at 11/2. I'm just ignoring the Nunthorpe completely. If you miss the break even slightly over 5f then you're up against it, but that is particularly true at York where I always believe it's best to race prominently.

          1pt singles
          0.75pt ew double.

          Good look all.

I've gone for Khaloosy so let's hope at least one of us wins! I was going to leave the race alone when first looking at it on Monday but have ended up with maximum stakes on him and also used him in quite a few roll ups. I just can't get away from the impression he created when winning at Royal Ascot in a fast time for the conditions. He was then really disappointing at Goodwood when odds on but connections have blamed the undulating track and firm ground. Conditions can't be blamed if he disappoints again today and my gut feeling is that connections feel that he is a really top class horse. I'm glad to see there has been market support for him from his opening 11/4. Varian has mentioned that the QE2 will be the plan if he performs well today so I expect Khaloosy to be fully wound up. It would be fitting if he wins well today and then goes on to lift the QE2(albeit there is the matter of Palace Pier!) after connections lost Mohaather. Therefore my wishful thinking means I've taken the 25s with B365 although he is a general 33s for the QE2.

                    • Believe the bookies have made a blunder here, especially Paddy Power, in the 9:57 at Saratoga tonight they have Franks Rockette as 7/4 Fav, however that is not the fancy, the one who I can’t believe the price on is Kimari at 9/4, the pair met in April of level weights and kimari gave her a length and 3/4 beating on the slop, today Kimari is getting 2lb and conditions to suit, fast ground!!

                          • Throwing a few darts at York today.
I’m hoping the return to the track helps MUMS TIPPLE to find his form again. I still think he can become a good sprinter. Dropped down to listed class after taking in three group 1s and a group 3 in his last four runs.
TROUBADOR returns to York in poor form. He showed last year that he likes the course, goes on any ground so he won’t be bothered if there’s a going change. He’s up to winning off his rating and gets a very good apprentice taking 5lbs off in Danny Redmond. Michael Dods has his team running very well at present.
Odds of 16/1 and 22/1 will do for me.

The conditions this year are different and so are the jockeys.
The jockeys were definitely an angle/edge in previous years.

                              So, I have backed
                              Hammer Gun 27-1 WH.

Looks like Kingscote is jocked up already.
He has ran three times this year and been rubbish. And this could mean he is rubbish these days.
Think its a 0-70 race this year so he needed to be shit to get in.

But I'm taking a chance that they have had this race planned for a while, having come so close last year when heavily backed to win.
I know cos I was on at 20+ to one and it went off at 4-1 Fav.
Was extremely unlucky not to get up on the line.

I have no inside information but am pretty sure the yard like to bet and would target races like this.
His form going into the race last year was similarly rubbish, although he had won over course and distance with Kingscote riding in May 2019. Obviously this year he's had to wait till mid summer to start his season.

Likes to be held up so may need luck again (if he's on form at all).

Will back again each way once the full runners are declared and we know the draw and ground.

                              1pt 27-1 WH
I managed to get some on at 33's with PP, but peanuts really.
Seems like they are fancying it again, hope I didn't spoilt it for connections.

But moves with all the bookies today and into as short as 8's with Hills now.
PP won't be laying much at 16's.
It's a massively competitive race for sure but encouraging that the money has come.

                              Fingers crossed it's declared now.
