  • Bit early but I will be very disappointed if Folk Dance can't win the last at Yarmouth tomorrow on the bridle. I wonder how much people managed to get on at 11/4 as she should be odds on? Should have won first time and that was a much stronger race than this one. Only hope for the bookmakers is the man on top.

    • ...Blackheath was an eye catcher for me in the Bunbury Cup. Blocked when making a run on the inside when looking very strong approaching the final furlong, it was behind a wall of horses and the jockey stopped riding.

It’s entered for the Moët & Chandon this weekend and is of interest to me @ 25-1.

Good spot, dropped all the way down the increments to 11/10.

As expected already odds on. This is the problem with WH pricing up so early. They lay peanuts and in so doing mark the card for every other bookmaker. Anyone not around for those few minutes will have missed the opportunity.

That break looks an even better idea now. 100/30-2/1. Disappointing she didn't finish her race off better although perhaps she went a shade too quick. The 'spoiler' ended up a search party job. Not quite scrap heap material yet but I wouldn't be confident in Johnston turning it around.

            • Saw the Sea 1-20 Yarmouth 25-1. backed 2pts ew.

Poor form in maidens, but they were decent maidens in Ireland with plenty going on to be a lot higher rated than what he starts his handicapping career from (45). Doubt they are plotting for future races as it's on the lowest mark.

Trainer had 2 good winners well backed today at Chepstow.
              Harry Bentley booked to ride.
              Drawn well.
Already looks like money is coming in for the horse.
It's a wanky race. Full of exposed maidens on the face of it.

              Favourite looks strong though.

Well in a way I called it. Sometimes I wonder if we would get more accurate results if we let the horses run without the jocks.

                • Scooby's selection looked massive value on basic form.
                  4-1 vs odds on.
Too big a difference to ignore.
Think I took the last of 4-1 though.

                    • I'm sure most of my main fancies at leopardstown tomorrow will be mentioned by other members so I'll just put up two that caught my eye at huge prices.

Summit rock at 40/1 has Colin Keane booked to ride and he gets a fair few winners for the McCourt stable. This one is quite well bred being a former Dermot weld horse and the combo of the jockey booking and the big step up in trip makes him worth a nibble IMO.

Basrah breeze at 33/1 again its an eye-catching jockey booking for me, I'm a big fan of joey Sheridan and think he's great value for his claim. This ones a former ger lyons horse and reading gers blog posts on the horse from 2019 he thought he was a nice type who could win his maiden. It hasn't gone to plan for him but off a lowly mark tomorrow with the jockey taking off another chunk of weight I also think he's worth a small bet.

                      • Two from me today....

                        2.20 Pontefract. Sheepscar lad 7/1

Course and distance winner. Been running well without winning but looks suited to this 5f at Ponte. He’s won on good to firm ground previously. Claimer takes off 5lbs. Looks a solid EW bet to me.

                        4.25 Ponte. Dragon Glass 8/1

I think those that have ran more than once in this race haven’t much room for improvement. The favourites form doesn’t impress.
This filly ran over CD last time and looked like she had plenty of ability. Although beaten a long way, it looks like it will turn out to be a strong race. The horses at held up never managed to get into it but this filly travelled strongly and passed a few late on from what I could see (camera man zoomed right in on the finish). I think with that experience under here, she’ll run really well today.

Andy Holding has just put up Fernando Vichy (1 point) at 6/4....think 4s might have been a little on the big side

5/2 was the best I seen yesterday. Held of this morning to see if maybe went bigger. AH tips it up at 6/4 and now prob be odds on!

Sheepscar Lad is a well treated horse and on my radar. Drawn in 14 though! Annoying.
