  • Thumur halved in price to 9/2 now. That’s more like I expected.

A tidy profit but two winners would have been nice.

Eagles By Day travelled like the best horse and although there was a moment inside the final furlong when I thought here we go again, he has ultimately held on well.

Both Lady G and Que Amore have run well. Lady G was probably the gamble of the day but just ran into a less straightforward type who had more ability on the day. The pace battle probably ended up costing Que Amore.

If Passion had got an uncontested freebie she might have gone very close. As it is the other O'Brien runners seemed to do their best to wreck her chances.

Both Caradoc and Summerghand were disappointing. I would be happy to give Summerghand another chance as he didn't seem to travel a yard for Bentley. On the other hand that was one disappointment too many for Caradoc. It is about time Walker started delivering in this sort of race. You can't exist forever on a bit of pot hunting with Stormy Antarctic.

Four bets tomorrow, two at York and two at Chantilly.

      Dark Lady EW
      Living In The Past EW
      Harajuku EW
      Positive EW

The thinking behind both Dark Lady and Living In The Past is the same. They are both Group winners against rivals who so far are listed class at best. If they can reproduce anything like that ability then they are too big.

I wouldn't back many unraced horses but I thought Harakuju was big enough given her connections and pedigree. The favourite will be difficult to beat (combination mopping up similar races) but she does receive a handy five pounds.

I think Positive achieved more in finishing fourth at Ascot than Persian King has this season. Fingers crossed it stays dry.
      Harajuku 1st 13/2

      A small profit.

Harajuku won nicely and presumably they will be thinking of the Prix Marcel Boussac. One of two promising winning juvenile fillies for the sire today.

The other three were very disappointing.

Dark Lady fluffed the start but didn't go close to finishing off her race. Not good after a wind operation. Living In The Past was weak in the market and ran accordingly. Almost as if the engine had been removed. Perhaps the american trip has finished her for good?

Nothing ride and a nothing performance from Positive. Particularly frustrating as given the runs of the second and third it was probably no better than Group 3 form.

Onassis was also a frustrating result. She thwarted Waliyak at Ascot and I was pretty hopeful of a very good run at Epsom but the jocks just allowed Buick to set a crawl on the quickest horse in the race. Those out the back had absolutely no chance.

This angle of backing the horses with the fancy entries has been highlighted to me and is working out nicely so far, this looks a fairly safe bet to me too. He's 6/1 best price (3pl). Very disappointed if not in the mix.
A, 1-2 for the two horses with Group 1 entries... (the fav and winner was the other)

            • Just the one today:

Ayr 2:20 Star Cracker 8/1 E/W - No chance through poor placement LTO, was boxed in and ran up the arses of several horses before getting out with less than a furlong left. Hoping lightning doesn't strike twice, and with a bit of luck in running could go close today.

3rd, not given the kitchen sink again, small amount of profit but nothing to get excited about!

                  • Having backed her for the 1,000 Guineas not much alternative but to back Dubai Fountain for tomorrow's feature. Silly me, I had hoped she would be given a break and brought back for the Rockfel or Fillies Mile. I know Kameko did it but these days I doubt many classic contenders take in Sandown on the way.

I'd like to think it may be some like minded people who have a simular opinion or methods.

However I did amusingly notice that PP BF suspended 2 of mine overnight last week.

                      • BURRISTO 2.15 Chepstow. 7/1

Ran on nicely on 3rd start last time after looking outpaced. He seems to be getting the hang of things now. His first race looked a pretty decent affair. I don’t like the form of the odds on Fav. His odds of 4/6 seem very under priced. He may well do the business but I think my selection can improve enough for the step back up to 7F to give him a fright.

Go Scooby. Interesting to see if any more of yours get suspended.

Maybe too short for some, but i think should be even shorter to be honest. Form with Dandella and Method looks great and don't see why can't go one better today.

Incidentally owned by Hugh Taylor, named after his Rugby League team I think. You would think the extra furlong will be of benefit based on her first 2 runs. Had an interest at 15/8 on the machine

Very interesting race this- not for betting, but more so because Nick Bradley in his Ascot 2yo videos, stuck up both Dandalla and Setarhe for the race. So it's interesting they are happy enough to take her on again even with NB liking Setarhe.
