On another note, what’s with horses only running twice then getting into handicaps? Am I missing something?
I think if you win or are placed in your first 2 runs you get a mark

Yes win or finish no worse than 6th twice and your qualified. Just this season due to the missed races early on.

        • Bha rulings from early may regarding getting a rating.

"Handicapping – with the start of the season being delayed, we will help more horses become eligible for a handicap rating after two runs.

A horse will be eligible for a handicap rating if it (i) finishes in the first six places on both of its first two starts, or (ii) has completed two starts having won first time out. We can also confirm that the handicap rating for any horse that has, as a result of either of these changes, become eligible to be rated, will be published within the ‘Official Ratings’ section of the BHA website.
In addition, the current rules state that in order to run in a handicap with a Total Race Value of £45,000 or more, a horse must have run at least three times. Given the lack of opportunity for a 3yo to have a third run this year before some such handicaps take place, this rule will not be enforced until 1 July. This means that relaxation of the qualification rules outlined above will now also apply to high value handicaps until the end of June."

I'm of the opinion that with plenty of races being compressed hcaps and lots of lightly raced horses lining up daily, the form at present as a whole can be relied on.It will be interesting in a few weeks with most horses having had a run and more racing and thus potentially weaker races about,if you get scenarios where you get plenty of these unexposed horses milking open hcaps vs older exposed rivals more than usual.

          • Makes sense. Probably ensures stronger novice and maiden races too if there are less horses trying to finish closer to the rear than actually winning the race during their third run

I get the impression Marcus Tregoning thought this fella was going to be pretty good in time. His second run coming in a conditions race at Newbury that he previously sent Nayef to. The race had also been won by Henbit, Shergar, Unfuwain and STORMY ANTARCTIC.
He finished in close proximity to lots of horses now rated in the 90s. He then went on to run in a course novice race finishing second to a sir Michael stoute runner who could be very smart. Another horse to come out of that race was John gosden’s magical morning (she bolted up at Yarmouth the other day)
I don’t think his official rating does him justice and I think he’ll use his experience to good use against these newcomers. Odds of 9/2 make him an EW bet to nothing for me.

I agree with you SA. The 3rd horse at Kempton Fruition also won next time out. He should run well. Good luck.

                • He does look like an interesting spot SA. Given he's taken a keen hold a few times, the gelding might help him that bit more today. God knows how good the two in front are though!

                  • Had a small A/W E/W Canadian/Super Yankee today, mostly for a bit of fun, after Outlaws cracking pick yesterday

Wolv. 12:30 Seen The Lyte 8/1
                    Wolv. 2:00 Jill Rose 9/2
Wolv. 2:30 The Red Witch 6/1
                    Wolv. 3:00 Lightning Blue 4/1
                    Wolv. 4:00 Final Choice 9/2

Obviously there is much more competitive racing on, but I don't mind a bit of Wolverhampton over the years, and it's been a while, so thought I'd have a crack.

Good luck to all that are having a go today

Superb shout SA. Made light work of some inexperienced rivals.

Couldn't pick a 1/10 winner on the flat at the moment

Bodes well for RA next week and these Irish Guineas races
