Just backed both Harringotns in the 2 group races tomorrow.
Oodnadata 7-2
Cadillac 6-4
Cadillac immediately cut to odds on.
Will see how the rest price these races up.
Didn't actually get too excited about 6/4 in such a hot race to be fair but backed anyway as the vibes seemed right.
Was hoping for 5-2 really.
Happy with 7-2 the other one though.

That said sometimes sense goes out the window and I have gone with Snowfall EW. She is the only one of three I have backed for the 1,000 Guineas.
None of the form has really been franked so it is very much down to visual interpretation. Snowfall needs to step up markedly on that maiden win but I just felt there was something very likeable about that performance even though the margin was a narrow one. A Ma Chere showed a good attitude on debut but the dam has yet to produce anything near to her own ability. Perhaps this is the one but it has to be a negative that Weld has really struggled to find a decent horse over the last few seasons. I might cover if she goes double figures. Joseph's filly was just too short.

The 7F Group 3 Silver Flash for Fillies is the first of the triumvirate of races that usually throws up the classic fillies for next year.
Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes 7F
Group 2 Debutante Stakes 7F
Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes 7F
There will be many Irish fillies in recent years, that took in these races prior to Newmarket and Epsom runs the following year.
Watching the videos back there are some impressive winners in the race tomorrow (1pm).
The standout for me is PRETTY GORGEOUS.
She debuted over a Mile, but had the race won at 6F and 7F before breezing in over the last 1/2F.
I've backed her for tomorrow, and also taken the 66/1 Bet365 for the 1000 Guineas too.
She looked half a size bigger than the other fillies she ran against on debut and ran all over them, with a rating none of her opponents tomorrow, could match on their debut.
Its not like Joseph to win many with 1st time out 2yo's so she could be a good one.Last edited by Saxon Warrior; 5 August 2020, 07:34 PM."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

You've hooked me there SW, as usual. (With the ante post punt)
Just to note, Shale is 33/1 for the 1000 Guineas, but 12/1 tomorrow... whereas Pretty Gorgeous is 5/2 tomorrow and 66/1 for the 1000 Guineas.
Of course she may be way ahead of them now, and tomorrow the time to catch her, but whichever way you cut it, one of those prices has to be wrong relative to the other, at least.Last edited by Kevloaf; 5 August 2020, 07:29 PM.

The owner splashed 525,000 Guineas to get her and house her with Joseph.
I'm coming round to thinking that with Coolmore controlling AOB's string almost completely, that Joseph and Donnacha attract a much wider ownership structure wanting a piece of the O'Brien magic.
It will be interesting if the two sons win a few classics with non-Coolmore horses and owners.
- I'm not sure how "the lads" would take that.
I also think that their horses, particularly the non-Coolmore ones could be less noticed in the classic betting markets than their dads horses.
I do like NICEST in the early Oaks market, trained by Donnacha, and am looking for her to be declared in a 1M Group race soon.
Her form ties in with Pretty Gorgeous, they both beat the same horse into 2nd.Last edited by Saxon Warrior; 5 August 2020, 07:51 PM."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

I suppose Joseph is getting more independent.
But surely the gaffer is the gaffer.

Took Masen + Charterhouse (e/w) as i think that maiden's much stronger. Blue For You has come out and won at Galway to help it a little anyway.

Surely he's better than 76 even forgetting Coen's claim!

But the boys seem to have the wider scope for owners, while AOB trains mostly the Coolmore (and OBrien family) horses.
It brings them a different dynamic, potentially some big priced sales purchases, and a different basket of breeding to Coolmore.Last edited by Saxon Warrior; 6 August 2020, 12:20 AM."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Estijmaam 4.30 Leopardstown
Earlier form in this mares career would have her rated somewhere in the 80s on evidence of the horses in proximity of her. I’d look to oppose the favourite here and I think Harrington’s mare can come on a bit from her recent flat return. 16/1 looks short enough on her recent form but I’ll give her a squeak
