The 3 Godolphin horses are obviously unexposed and may well be better, but I like this angle and I'm going to back them now.

Only 1 horse not making it's debut, so let's hope the entries are not misguided!

As usual, the 'without the fav' market for both appeals too.

Split stakes all over the place

Only 1 qualifier for this angle in the 1:40 at Newmarket, the 2nd fav (2/1) Dhahabi has a Group 2 entry in Ireland for Charlie Appleby, which I think is worth noting .... will have a small play at that with some of the profit from the race above.

11/10 without the fav if anyone fancies that too, I've split my stake.

Think Chindit got group entry also.

      • Didn't check to be honest, concentrating on the maidens. As a rule I'd usually ignore any race that had 'unraced' horses in it, but this has been a very good angle over the last few weeks and I'm quite happy focussing on it for the time being!

A few tomorrow qualify at the Curragh, and in the 3.05 today the one Scooby put up very much fits in as well (as does the odds on fav).

Makes the flat more interesting anyway

              Gone with four at Ascot:-

              Chindit EW
              Ebury EW
              Evening Sun EW
              Mascat EW

No fantastic prices. In fact I could have got a better price on Chindit if I hadn't backed him ante-post. I liked the style of his debut win and they have chosen this race over the Vintage next week. Sadly, Hannon falls only behind Johnston in being difficult for punters to predict. He never seems to be in form for more than a few days. Could be a big day as he also runs two interesting two-year-olds in the first two races. Ebury is pretty obvious being lightly raced with course form. Any rain shouldn't present a problem. Evening Sun was an easy winner from a horse who has run well since. The step up to mile should be a plus. It is a small field but it wouldn't surprise me if this is more competitive than the betting suggests. Bentley and Beckett are not my favourite combination but Mascat looks nicely treated on last season's form.
              Mohawk King 1st 7/1
              Chindit 1st 10/1
              Evening Sun 3rd 6/1

Managed to add the second winner this time for a tidy profit.

Mohawk King won a shade comfortably and would have won even easier with a clear run. Relatively small with a decent attitude. The first two in first two races look worth keeping onside.

Chindit looked very professional and also won with something to spare. It will be disappointing if can't at least find a Grade 3.

Evening Sun was disappointing and slightly fortunate to get the place as for a moment it looked as if Moore wasn't very interested in the difference between third and fourth.

Following Sir Busker and Positive another shocker from Murphy on Ebury. I am not sure what was in his mind. Instead of committing for the gap he appeared to say after you which inevitably led to horse being hampered and the jock easing off. Only one the favourites who didn't turn up.

The well supported Mascat was just as bad. Seemingly well placed he stopped as if shot. Even dropped in trip I wouldn't give him another chance.

Enable travelled much better today but impossible to gauge the merit of the performance with Japan running a shocker.

Three tomorrow and waiting on a price for another:-

              Hyperfocus EW
              Gold Wand EW
              Sam Cooke EW

Had hoped for plenty of rain at York, particularly for Hyperfocus. Unfortunately, it hasn't materialised. After being well backed and disappointing at Newmarket's July meeting Sam Cooke already moving towards the last chance saloon. He has halved in price after final declarations.

Moore's ride on Evening Sun was not good in any respects.
Just glanced over and watched Dettori make a mid race move and then ran on when it was far too late. Very dosy.

Added Tiger Crusade. Travelled very strongly in beating Society Lion who also quickened smartly. If he copes as well with a more testing track it will be disappointing if he can't back up that performance.

Kev, is there an easy way to find which horses have fancy entries?

In short, no, just manually checking through runners.

In the 2.20, there are 5 (which is a lot) and one of them is the fav, so done nothing with her.

At the moment, I'm waiting for the 'without' and 'extra place' markets.

                        • There are 2 in the 1.45 at the Curragh

The favourite, St Mark's Basillica (7/4) and Donnacha's Procellarum (15/2)

No value angle with the favourite and because he looks solid based on those entries relative to the rest I would prefer to take a without the favourite price.... I can see 4/1 at the moment, just waiting to see how other bookies price it though and it looks like he's drifting which is good at the moment.

Procellarum - 5/1 without the fav, (3 places)

Exactly what I was looking for!

                            • 2.20
                              Sweet Gardenia
                              100/1

Will have to mention this one just in case.

I've backed in all kinds of combinations now splitting the stakes, (Without the favs, extra places etc)

Same trainer, J J Murphy, had a very similar profiled horse lose a nose at 100/1 a week or so ago.... so this price doesn't put me off. (Charterhouse on 11th July - watch it back)

It's a deeper race that that one was, but I can't resist tipping a 100/1 shot as I think it is purely based on the trainer, and that doesn't put me off.

If he runs like a drain, remember it's 100/1 shot They clearly have no idea how good he is, but at 100/1 I'm happy to pay to find out.
