Just spotted Monarch of Egypt is running at 17:30 Dundalk this evening.
Now interesting he's up in trip to 1m2f.
I made the case after the Irish Guineas that I thought he was one I'd really fancy UP in trip. That was against the grain it seemed on here and to his credit, he did run well to be 2nd at Royal Ascot in the Jersey over 7f...
However, I'm going to have to go with my gut and I'll be disappointed if he can't claim his 1st win since his debut.
He's only 4/5 and up against Siamese for J.Murtagh who seems to train the winner of every race I watch... but I really hope he puts in a big performance.
Draw your own conclusions from the fact the favourite was a dodgy stayer and they set a strong pace with their other runner.
I would still keep an eye on Dalvey to see if they drop him back in trip on softer ground. Raised in class and upped in trip he has lacked a gear on quicker ground.
I don't normally bet during the week unless there are big meetings taking place but noticed that Open Wide is running tomorrow in the 1.35pm at Windsor so I've had an EW bet. He was a horse I had my eye on for the Wokingham but was not entered. His 2 runs this year haven't been great so he's been dropped 4llbs. If he can return to anywhere near the same form as last summer he will have a great chance at a course he clearly likes. He has form figures of 122223312 at Windor. I can still see 15/2 with a couple of firms but looks like as if he is now shortening.
This is exactly how I see it YH. His course form is rock solid. I had my eye on him for the stewards cup after his cracking run there last year. He can still go there this year win or lose today. Moore up is a pointer as well. I make Belated Breath the danger with course form of 313 and down to her last winning mark. Oisin has ridden her in her last two wins and he’s back on board today. Both like fast ground. Could you get an easier forecast haha.

Small fields but a couple of interesting races at Longchamp. I am hoping Oriental Mystique will improve significantly for her seasonal debut. She was stuck out wide and hanging right down the straight at Newbury. Going this way should suit her better and I don't think she should be 12/1. The concern would be that she hasn't been backed.

Simcock's were slow to start then as well.
Having been on Volkan Star last time, i wasn't that impressed and did say at the time Thunderous would be the one to take from it. Though VS's form seems to be boosted on the regular at the moment.
1/2f seems wild short to me, he's clear of the figures and the horses the French have these days do seem to be lacking in quality to a degree. In saying that i think i'll give the well talked about Ketil a go. Remember a while back there was a lot of talk about this horse + he made a nice reappearance.
Hurricane Dream + Dawn Intello both were behind Mishriff as well, so by that there isn't a HUGE amount between Ketil and VS. Hoping Ketil improves again and at 8s i'll have a stab.

Not sure how many times you can hit the crossbar at decent prices? For most of straight the winner was seemingly going nowhere. Pretty sure if he could ride the race again Barzalona would have sat a little bit longer as Oriental Mystique has shown by far the best change of pace.
I'm backing Thank You Next in the first at kempton tomorrow - I signed up to Middleham Park's breezer group interested part list and this was one of two very nice ones they purchased (I have no share). Ran very well fto behind 2 horses that had run in RA and looked like step up in trip would suit. Price seems to be around 5/2
