  • I have lost on both Love and Raabihah and now having serious doubts about In Swoop who has halved in price this week. He was the obvious soft ground option given both sides of his pedigree. That said his action doesn't shout heavy ground and perhaps the soft ground just brings his stamina into play? I have a nasty suspicion he will be too slow even on this ground.

I can't remember a year where I could find so few positives about the runners. The negatives are easy but something has to win although had I not already placed the bets I wouldn't be looking to back anything on the day. It is just too difficult.

Do you think they'll ride PK from the front again, hence the 2 placeS?

      • All the runners trained by Aiden, Donnacha and Joseph have been withdrawn for Sunday.

        Serpentine
        Japan
        Mogul

        The three in the Arc.

Fascinating question Jack. Ideally I think they will certainly want to be handy coming out of the bend then put the pressure on early, so, yes. But whether he'll have the stamina over the trip in that ground remains to be seen. Of course he might be absolutely done well before then. Even with all the doubts though, I couldn't ignore a Fabre horse of his calibre.

When I placed the bet it was 16/1 3 places or 22/1 2 places.

            • So, no runners or Donnach, Aidan or Joseph at the Arc meeting tomorrow.

What are bookmakers going to do about that, for bets before the 48-hour decs?

Pocket the cash? - because of a feed technicality.

                • Can anyone let me know what bookies do here if you get refunded. I'm intrigued, wasnt on any of them but could make a huge impact on my future investments and decison making especially with ante post betting!

There shouldn't be any refunds but no doubt some of usual suspects will cloudy the waters.

                      Agreed.

Don't see why any of them should refund. You pays your money and you take your chance

                      • I agree bookies shouldn't feel obliged.
But not sure what the problem is.

                        Goodwill is goodwill.
                        And should always be welcomed

                          • Sottsass is now definitely the place only bet for me. He won’t mind heavy, no stamina doubts and this has been the target all year. Now with all the non runners he looks pretty solid to me. Still hope Enable does the business though

                            • Interesting reading up on Zilpaterol and the benefits this could provide to elite horses in training.
For it to be contaminating horse feed is one thing, and the manufacturers need to answer this, as surely a prohibited substance would need to be kept well away.
And also interesting that the Irish testing didn't show it up, as it's designed for tests on cattle only !!!
But the French testing finds it easily enough.
In fact France gallop initiated the manufacturers warning after finding horses testing positive for it in recent weeks.

                              O.Brien said......

"The Irish Equine Centre can seemingly test only as low as one part in a billion, and I believe the test that they were doing is only for cattle because that is the only one that can be done here. All of the tests we sent to France for the French runners returned positive.

"There is a chance that we could have been okay to run, but we couldn't be sure. To protect the integrity of the whole thing, we have to take them out.

                              It's dubious at best.
One that the Irish testing system has a big fucking hole in it. And two, that O'brien knows it doesn't show up in the system after a few days (which is common knowledge for many drugs and substances I know)

                                Interesting article on stradivarius.
Still think he's the most likely to get closest to enable, although sottsass also should be respected.
I think the pace they go will be more crucial to stradivarius than the drop in trip.
I'm not sure now who will make the running, as it was surely going to be one of O'briens.

However, it is extreme ground and anything could happen I suppose.
