  • 1000 Guineas

Couldn't find a 1000 Guineas thread so will stick this is in here as not long until the race now anyway.

Backed So Wonderful today at 33/1 for the 1000 Guineas and also 50/1 for the Oaks. She looked green for the most of last season, and on breeding would need a trip. Hoping she has matured plenty over the winter and ready to go over 1m first time, before going on to better things.

I'm not a huge player on flat racing, but the bigger races I usually do my research, so that I can have a dabble if the opportunity arises.

    1000 Guineas

Just backed Raffle Prize at 25/1 for this.

Hope Frankie is on board, read that this might be his ride and I can see that being the case.

Royal Ascot winner, a bit over priced perhaps? If Frankie is confirmed the 25/1 won't be there... but it's not confirmed.

Stamina an obvious concern too as she looks faaaaaaaaaast

Yes Kev I read he is taking the ride. Very likely to shorten with the Frankie factor. She does look a doubtful stayer though.

I've backed Cloak Of Spirits for this @35s. Basically following Hannon to a degree as he can ready them for the classics to run big races. Hannon obviously likes here, and i can forgive her 2nd run straight into g2 company. Her last in the Rockfel proves she should handle the undulations alright and it was hot form. Thought she was overs anyway.
The other i'm tempted to back is Peaceful. She ran a cracker just behind debutant Born With Pride. BWP was having her debut on heavy ground so it was some run, but Peaceful shaped brilliant. Donnacha said after her maiden win that she's very raw and has plenty of improvement left. She'll be staying the trip no bother whereas i have my doubts over a few doing it as well

              That went well

Back to the drawing board. She's entered in the Irish 1000, so will get stuck into her for that I think.

                Raffle Prize now into 12/1

The Frankie factor is way too big

The saying 'tip in itself' is branded about a bit too much in the racing world.

But, surely, AOB sending just one runner to the 1000 Guineas shows a strong confidence?

Better lay off for a free poke then.

                      Too short, won't stay

I think Love is an EW bet to nothing. O'Brien just having the 1 runner is the biggest tip in itself based off his record from the last few years. The 1 runner in 2015 was an outsider. Love could start favourite if the likes of Anthony Van Dyke, Arizona run well before her.

                          2019 - 4 ran - 1st
                          2018 - 4 - 3rd
                          2017 - 3 - 1st, 2nd
                          2016 - 3 - 1st, 2nd, 3rd
                          2015 - 1 - unplaced

Haha, I'm not going to lay it off despite that

I'd have prefer Frankie on though I must say.
