Hello Fat Jockeys,
Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum
We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.
I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Probably not the right place for this and feel free to correct me but jacovec cavern fell when leading last week in cork in a qualifier for the albert bartlett triple crown series. The final of which is in punchestown he is running in wetherby tomorrow at 3.32 in the last qualifier and only the winner qualifies I think he is a good bet although the odds are not great

Thanks mate. My first choice has just been backed from 16s into 9s. So might have to fall back to the 2nd choice, or maybe wait for Sunday if that one starts getting backed to. I'd say I'll be fine for tomorrow but will notify early in the morning if price crashes leave me with not much left of interest.

My selection is Saffronandblue (5:45 curragh, best price 20/1 6 places)
Will follow up with my reasoning in a few minutes, wanted to make sure it's price held first.
I could have gone with a few at single figure prices who i liked, but i wanted to go for the jugular for the first week of the punt.
First of all I really like the trainer martin brassil, a lot. So I find myself always giving his runners extra scrutiny, and this time i like what i see. He got his first win on the flat last season at leopardstown off a mark of 49. He followed up cosily next time out at sligo, and this win was the most interesting. He got raised to a mark of 66 (up 7lb) for a snug 1.5l win over Not just any eagle, who went on to win next time out and is now rated 80, gone up 18lb since that second to saffronandblue. The third behind those two, Grey fable, himself had form figures of 2112 after that race, rising 10lb in the ratings. This leads me to think that Saffron still has a nice bit in hand off that mark of 66.
His only run on the flat since that last win, was when going off 9/2 fav for a leopardstown handicap, where he stopped very quickly and ran no sort of race at all. I'm happy to give the benefit of the doubt for that one run and put a line through it. After that he has since been faffing around over hurdles to atain a handicap mark.
He has the very capable claimer jamie Powell claiming a further 3lb off his back today. His draw is fine, ground is fine as both wins came with cut, trip should be fine, and he is fit from his campaign over jumps, whereas a lot of these might not be fully tuned up. He should be a simple enough ride if his two wins are anything to go by, drop him in behind the leaders and if hes good enough he's good enough, there's no obvious excuses for him. The one worry a few would have with his trainer is whether he will be trying. Given its a nice race at his local track, I'd like to think he definitely will be.Last edited by riccirich; 29 March 2025, 10:24 AM.
