  • Goes without saying, but Kopeck de Mee will be followed by me off a cliff, couldn't believe what I witnessed today by Mark Walsh. At least I know I didn't lose the plot with my Hcap thoughts

40s best now for the Arkle is fair enough

Would agree with others, Mundi is a good prospect, but missed the comments re. Chelt so will need to have a listen of that and make a decision on whether he goes into the early Arkle team or not.

    • He gave himself no chance today with his antics pre race & for the guts of the first 2m but is 50/1 with PP a bit of an overreaction with Kitzbuhel.

He’s only a 5yr old, is still very raw and green but he kept on well even when the race was gone today. Fences could be the making of him next season.

I agree. His price must reflect that he needs to learn to settle, but he’s at the right place to learn. I also think there’s only one target for him (if proving good enough).

I also think 100/1 is an overreaction for Grangeclare West in the Gold Cup. Ran very well and would’ve been right there if not for the mistake at the last - the overhead showed him losing at least the 3 lengths he lost by at the last. Definitely one for the book, in my opinion.

Yeah that’s fair, Grangeclare West’s tendency to throw in the odd below par run is a bit frequent for my liking. I took the 33/1 about Gaelic Warrior for the Gold Cup straight after his win yesterday. His zip/fizz is completely gone this year. He looks a total diesel dour stayer now. Can see 3m2f being very doable next year. Rich Ricci must surely want a proper tilt at thr big one next year.

          • I see Fact To File’s only Punchestown entry is in the Champion Chase. He’s already been trimmed for the Cheltenham equivalent. I wonder has JP’s plans for next year been put forward to Willie. He emphasised how much he wants to win the race.

Topped up on the 14/1 today & stuck him in a few related multiples with Maj in the Ryanair who will surely appreciate going a shade slower into his fences in future. They’ll be split up anyway. Stuck them in a double & mixture of trebles & a 4 fold with Jasmine De Vaux (stayers) & Jade De Grugy (mares chase).

I did the exact same with FTF with all those horses in various multiples, also included KDB, TNL, Kargese and Wodhooh.

                • ….noticed when asked for one to follow next season at the weekend, Dan Skelton suggested Kadastral.

Won the valuable Newbury bumper comfortably last month, I checked for a price and 25-1 (Supreme) with Sky was all I could see but notice this morning 365 have added at 33s and PP/BFSB at 50-1.

Might well be a Turners horse but 50-1 with cash-out for a well thought of Skelton horse seems ok.

Sounds like they are doing the WH thing now. Account closed by me. When asked why said your not offering what i want to bet my money on anymore.

I would be joining you on the closing of my skybet account but the other day i had a couple of quid on fact to file for champion chase because amazingly they were best price on it !

                      • Shame, I feel like next years novice hurdlers are really unknown so any race atleast would have offered a bit of comfort!

Looks like we are looking for a target from now on. Wont be using much cash on Cheltenham till later in the year now.

                          • FtF target. Reading this blog has got me confused over likely target for FtF. I can see the argument for GC but personally I think Ryanair (after this years performance) is much more likely. But of late I’m reading here thoughts he might go Champion Chase! I have looked back through the comments and apart from his Punch entry I cannot see any reasoning for this suggestion ie Champion Chase at Cheltenham. Can anyone shed some light ?

If he wins the punchestown race and shows he's as good at 2 miles it just seems logical

JP has never won the champion chase and it's a much more prestigious race in a weak looking division

Yeah, JP would be putting together thoughts on how to complete the full house at the Festival

                                ● Arkle
                                ● Champion Chase
                                ● Mares Hurdle
                                ● Mares Novice Hurdle

If he's got one good enough to be Fav for the Champion Chase, and Ryanair, and whose Won Grade 1s at both trips then he may have a greater desire to go Champion Chase - all other things being equal.

I can see Fact To File angle for sure.

So can Willie by the look of his 1 entry at Punchestown

He always uses that meeting to test things out before the horses finish their season- in this case could F2F be a Champion Chase horse? - he's going to get his answer (given a clear round) in 2 weeks time.
