Horrible race for betting ante post but do we assume Banbridge will abandon any Gold Cup thoughts next season ?
I've seen 12/1 for the Ryanair, not a price I can fall in love with but tempted to add to a multi or two...

Think they'll be half minded to skip Cheltenham for Aintree or Fairyhouse next season, had their ground and he just didn't turn up on the day, might turn out that something was amiss with the horse but it does give Joseph an excuse to work a programme that's focussed on the KG repeat then onto Aintree.

I suspect Fact to File will be heading to the blue riband and this race will be full of usual non gold cup stayers and paceless champion chase horses....

I'd agree. That's two no shows at the Cheltenham festival in the last two years. The King George followed by the Bowl or Melling should be the plan next year.

Banbridge ?
Has a M Pipe win on the New Course and a novice chase win on the Old Course, can't see why they'd think he can't act on the course.
His Ryanair run last season was in deep ground when he should never have run, I got the impression he was just a non stayer in the Gold Cup, emptied after the climb to the top of the hill.
Personally I'd be surprised if JOB wants to swerve Cheltenham with a serious dart...

I've had a bit of the 40s Each Way for the Gold Cup

They dont seem.to think the injury is going to hold him up at the start of the next season.

So given how good he looked. Debuting straight into that Grade 2 at Newburys big winter meeting, then followed it up with a smooth Grade 1 win at Kempton.

Then it's easy to think that horse could've had a massive impact in the BANC (but for his injury), and he could be the staying Novice Chaser to take out of this season with a view to next seasons King George and Gold Cup - at a big price, to soothe the risk of backing an injured horse.

His stablemate Handstands is decent too.

Plus Lecky of course.

I reckon the owners of BDA will want to actually win a Festival race next year instead of being the talking horse and will go for the lowest hanging fruit possible which surely would be the Mares Chase. And Gordon won't be persuading them differently two years on the trot !

Oh no,I fully expect him to defend the KG crown, just not sure I'd be taking a price on him for next season round here until nearer the time, all through the build up Joseph was keen to mention ground would dictate his target & if it was on the heavier side of soft he'd be happy to skip altogether, so given he was stating himself & connections would be happy to miss a chance at a Gold cup with a legitimate contender I wouldn't want him onside just yet and think his price will hold right up until he lines up at Kempton in december.

100% this, as long as she jumps a fence I can't see them messing around with the RSA or Arkle, they'll want the most straightforward contest for her,middle distance,against her own sex, looks easy from here
