Doesnt look like Iris Emery will get in so I’m sure Patrick will be onto the trainer to get the ride imo having won on him already this season at Cheltenham.
Wouldn’t fancy him for the NHC as Patrick will be on a WPM horse you’d think and also professionals being in it you lose the ‘best amateur’ tag.

I have no doubt that Patter Merchant (Pertemps) is very well handicapped and have long had him marked down as one of Elliott's main M.Pipe candidates. I think he's in a similar mould to (as a future chaser) and possibly even better than Betterdaysahead. I suspect he was rerouted to the last Pertemps qualifier as JP's The Wallpark was seemingly diverted from here to the Stayers. He was in my view ridden purely to qualify there (& protect his mark) and as such I would expect him to be the stable number one here. The only doubt in my mind is that I think he has the class to be effective over shorter trips and I'm not sure how he'd be suited by a slog over the CD at this stage of his career.Last edited by Eudipe; Yesterday, 08:52 AM.

Just looking at the races and think I would look at the MNH, Ryanair and Stayers as races that have some nice priced ones that could upset the fancied ones.
The MNH has two that could be classed as standing out but a number of very interesting contenders at nice e/w prices to have a good look at.
The Ryanair is a little uncertain because of FTF and IEF, but some more definite runners with imo winning chances again at e/w prices to have a good look at.
The Stayers has a hot fav, but he’s no certainty and imo a bit dependent on soft ground, which he may or may not get. Again there’s e/w alternatives and even the 2nd fav is an e/w price!!
So that’s where I would be looking for three of the races, and then you have the pick of the handicap races for your last one. To only have one handicap to work out might just appeal?
It’s a very tricky day, but one that could provide a lot of excitement for you….and us!!

In the Ryanair at a decent price I like Heartwood I think the target has been confirmed by Puppy on a preview evening.
Stayers I really like Home by the Lee having backed the last three years, I have nothing on him this year which calls out he will win.

Ok, so the MNH…..KB that you mentioned as liking definitely would not put you off, looked like she came on a lot from her first run, and was impressive.
Aurora Vega seems to be improving as most of these would to be fair, but as a backer I’m a little concerned that her jumping might let her down going left handed.
Then there’s Nicholls two who the trainer says not a lot between them, although for me the form of Jubilee Alpha is looking ok with Hollygrove Cha Cha looking impressive the other day.HCC is underrated in the betting imo.
Its a tricky race being a novice, but I would be confident of at least one of JA, JAR, and JB of running a big race and at a big price HCC.
Ryanair…..With or without the top two currently, I would still fancy Protektorat to run his race which puts him right there.Djelo was very good last time , and now they know how string he stays it’s possible he could be ridden more positive and he’s a good price imo.
GWest ran well against the Gold Cup boys and repeat of that makes him a player imo.
Not sure what’s happening with found a 50, but he’s another that’s interesting if turned up, got some nice form with Solness and has won at around the distance.
And at a big price M Chewy ran well last time and could be interesting at the distance.
Stayers…..Probably more obvious ones to take on the fav.
HBTL that you mentioned is deserved 2nd fav on his form this season and imo could be backed to win as well as e/w at prices right now.
Lucky Place is imo the most intriguing one having to step up and unknown if that will be successful, but trainer is no mug, and he’s confident. Another that could be backed to win or e/w imo.
At bigger prices, the rapid improvement of Rocky’s D has to be noted, and our old fav Langer Dan the spring horse apparently!! has to be considered.
Anyway just my thoughts on those three races mate.
As for the handicaps , I shall leave that to others that will be much more use to you.

Jamie Snowden on Hollygrove cha cha
Hollygrove Cha Cha will attempt to emulate You Wear It Well by landing the Ryanair Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle, having held on gamely for a Grade Two triumph in Sandown’s Jane Seymour event under Gavin Sheehan.
“She’s won five of her six starts now,” commented Snowden. “The only time she got beat, she was second in a Listed race at Taunton, when good ground on a sharp track just found her out a bit.
“The New course should suit her far better and it’s a race we took with You Wear It Well, so it would be nice to do the same with Hollygrove Cha Cha.
“A lot depends on how Gav finds her and how the race pans out, but we made all with You Wear It Well and Hollygrove Cha Cha can do that – and I think she’ll be better in a fast-run race.”
I like this mare, real game attitude.
I know ive said it before but it's worth saying again, the last 2 winners of the Jane Seymour to have gone on to contest the mnh have won.

Thats what I would do, it’s not a significant difference in prices for me.

I think Moon D’Orange deserves a mention for the novices handicap. I’ve not backed him yet but I intend to with it being the target.
His win in the big handicap in January was a good performance against seasoned handicappers. The winning distance would have been a lot cosier had he not made a mistake at the last but that could be a blessing as he’s only been put up 4lbs for that win. We know the pre-Cheltenham handicaps always have a say on the Cheltenham festival handicaps as well. McConnell does well at the course so surely only a matter of time before he breaks his duck at the festival. He needs a few to come out but I’d be hopeful he makes it in.
