I'd echo the sentiments in the posts sbove. I also love this place. Though I hardly ever post just now - for a number of reasons - I spend a lot of time reading on here and visit pretty much every day. Believe it or not, it's a place of calm and sanity. I know - hard to imagine that isn't it?
I'm afraid I can't provide any of the expertise you're looking for, I do the patron thing, and will look to increase it when I can. Thank you

Hi Kev, might be worth asking whoever you use for your site maintenance to do an SEO report on the site. It could help identify some of the issues. The constant slowing of the site could be a number of things but (this sounds nuts) but it could be espionage from a bookie. FJ takes money from them, i wouldn't be surprised if it has had the HTTPS linked to some random sites like porn or unsecure sites etc to damage the site. Google punishes sites for this even thought it's not your fault. It would take a big chunk of the fact finding out of the way. Other than that, only thing i can think of is the hosting. I usually direct people towards Siteground where the hosting is fast and safe, and not badly priced to be honest.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but it is quite a longshot but given it's near festival, the speed of the site may be due to DDOS but I have no idea why somebody would do that to a horse racing forum as I doubt it's due to general traffic

Something thats a minor but would be helpful is when clicking on a thread. You are automatically taken to the first page (atleast I am), which isnt ideal if your clicking on general chat for example. Any way you can route the user to the latest page
