6/4 was a great price after King of Kingsfield was withdrawn also.

Unlucky shout really.
As the last thing you'd have wanted was an 18 length cruise today.

On the Cross country in general - Gordon is doing a cracking job with all his as I've no idea which one is going to be best handicapped on the day.
Galvin & Delta look reasonably treated but it's the others that have been awful that would concern me on the day.

Looks like Vanillier has got away with that win with no change to his mark. Seems strange considering other recent activity by the Irish capper.

However, both The Goffer and Coko Beach have been adjusted so must assume the race has been evaluated.

Whilst Gordon & Gavin have been plotting a number of horses and rightly being front of everyones mind, I think Joseph has been working miracles on Fakir D'oudaries. Down to a lovely mark of 148 (151 with UK tax) which is his lowest mark since April 2019. He had a lovely educational ride out the back in Decembers edition and handled the banks really well. Adding him to my shortlist for this at 25's NRNB.

Bizarre piece of handicapping really hard to justify.
He was giving the 2nd and 3rd 10lbd but won 18l on the bridle.
I doubt the UK handicapper will take the same view, but we'll find out soon when National weights are released.

It was great to see Vanillier get back to winning ways at Punchestown earlier this week. We put blinkers on him for the first time and they really seemed to sharpen him up in every way. We’ll enter him in the cross-country chase at the Cheltenham Festival and he’s in the Grand National. We’ll just have to weigh up whether we go straight to the Grand National or take in the cross-country race on the way there. We’ll see how he comes out of this run and that will help guide us.

Like I said above, you'll get a clue on Vanilliers mark when National weights are out.

Thats wonderful news if it sticks that way, the only way he doesnt go to chelts is if he gets into the national imo, with the recent upwards trenf i dont think 144 would make it, my slips are still breathing.

Then there’s Stumptown in the Glenfarclas Cross-Country, now a handicap, but even a 6lb hike for his win at the track in December hasn’t shifted him from the head of the market.

“He’s really taken to it very well. It will be interesting to see what the handicapper puts him in at, but whatever it is it is and we’ll deal with it. He’s in good form and he’ll go straight there,” Cromwell said.

Vanillier himself is another leading fancy but far from certain to run.

“He has a National entry and he could go straight to Aintree, he could go to the cross-country and then the National or he could possibly go to the Bobbyjo and then the National.

“The blinkers certainly revved him up at Punchestown, but saying that I’ve noticed in the last two to three weeks that he’s started to come alive a bit, so it would be a little bit of a combination.

“You’d love to have another crack at the National, but it’s a massive ask. When you’re second in the National you always feel like that was your chance and he’s not getting any younger, but at the same time it’s great to see him in good form.”

Any love for hip hop conti? I believe I read that he may come over and we saw from sweet David earlier in the season although he was out of the handicap he hacked up due to being a XC specialist

22nd feb the bobby george, he'll get an entry but if he doesnt run then it'll be the xcountry route.National weights come out 11th feb i believe, 144 is a non runner imo. Anyway thanks for that Eggs.
