I think it might be just a mares thing. I remember thinking echoes in rain would have a great chance in the County a couple times but they kept running her in the mares over a trip that wasn't her best as a 2nd/3rd string.

Maybe they see getting black type for her future as a broodmare as more valuable than a handicap pot? Or maybe just prefer to keep them against they're own sex unless they have no chance and really have to go for a handicap.

Maybe Kargese will ensure a decent pace in the race for Jade, I’d be confident PT will pick Jade. Given Golden Ace done her for toe in the mares novices last year.

If Ricci is saying it then it is probably decided. He has said multiple times that he wont get involved in the race planning and leaves it all up to Willie. I don't think he would say that if some serious discussions hadn't taken place. PT get's a hot pot to ride in the Mares.

She'll never win a Champion hurdle yet they've had it as the plan for the whole season and suddenly they're going to switch less than a week before the race
