      • Looks like Kargese going down the handicap route. Have we heard anything from the yard?

David Casey suggested this was a possibility in a preview with the owner having 2 other horses that could go Mares hurdle
Jade de Grugy and Gala Marceau
Also makes sense for her to go County as she is so keen she might not see out the extra distance

              He'll stick.

Superb news for the CH. What a race to savour now. Like the old days.

I hope so mate, but a decision has to be made now imo, whatever we think or hope.
Shes a shoe In for this imo, jade isn’t.

They'll go CH. Jade's not a shoe in but she's definitely the one to beat now and could go off very short.

                      Well you don’t know that.
Whether we like it or not they. do have a decision to make and they will know she’s more likely to win the Mares now than the CH.
Any mare that don’t have BDA to beat has to have a better chance of winning a race.
                      We shall see soon.

                      • If Lossiemouth goes to the Mares, then Willie and connections need pelters for going for the easy race. I don't think they'll change to it though. The optics look bad and her going back to it gives Cheltenham the excuse then to make changes to the Mares Hurdle, which Willie won't want. He will think long term and he's got JDG and Kargese (maybe) to come here with chances.

You are right, I don't but the fact that BDA has gone CH massively increases the chances of Jade winning the Mares so Willie already has a ready made winner of the race which Paul will ride and won't feel the need to divert from their 2 year Lossiemouth Champion plan. He'll also have two very good horses to go to war with against Brighterdaysahead and Constitution Hill rather than just leaving it to State Man.

                            Oh.there’s 2 year plan ?
Did that include what they know now?

Anyway, let’s hope they make the popular decision for us .

Not Willie has ever been bothered of what the optics look like. He has plenty of excuses he can roll out if he wants to put Lossie in the mares. Hopefully not, though it would help a few long range doubles for me.

                              • Anybody that makes a plan that doesn’t allow for flexibility in that plan is brain dead and is just a hostage to fortune. Fucking two year plan. Give me a break. Ricci is a businessman do you think he’d go to a board meeting and say well we have to do this now even though the environment has completely changed simply because 2 years ago we had it as our objective. Of course he fucking wouldn’t. The ability to course correct when necessary is a key to success in every walk of life, racing is no different

whether they go Champion or Mares will have fuck all to do with any 2 year plan. It will be based on their current evaluation of the situation and if emotions come into it then maybe things like pride/bravado/sportsmanship will play a part and for the sake of the race I hope they do but I fear they won’t.

Mind you I wouldn’t bet against them referencing the 2 year plan sound bite if if they do go down the CH path as it sounds a lot more impressive
