She looks to have improved immensely this season slamming the current champion whereas Lossiemouth has already disappointed once and Constitution Hill , although winning, looking a long way from his best. I don't understand it one bit.
Ricci/Mullins made the same decision with Lossie last season and they didn't even have Constitution Hill the beat!

That was all down to her being 5 and them wanting State Man to win the race. Completely different.

It's not completely different at all.

She also didn't run until very late and didn't win a proper recognised CH trial. No comparison at all imo.

She won the international. That's the race CH runs in on Saturday.

            You're talking rubbish mate.

She'd also have been a shorter price for the Champion Hurdle last season, than BDA is for this seasons renewal.

Fall forward. No point talking about it now. I've not got many years left so I'll stick to the present.

You said no one else would make that decision, yet the greatest trainer around did exactly that 12 months ago!

                    Moving on.......

                      There is a difference IMO.
The greatest trainer still won the champion hurdle last season (not for the first time), and also the mares hurdle, both at long odds on.
He already had the favourite who had won all grade 1's over 2 miles that season with ease and was 2/7 SP.
                      The Owner let it happen.

Elliott and Gigginstown never have won the Champion hurdle.

I think Elliot would deffo want to go Champion, despite what he says publicly.
That's also a difference in this regard IMO

To be fair to them though. Whilst I would disagree.
After the next 2 weeks play out, if Con Hill does what he ought to, and Lossie wins cosy enough in the Irish champion against State Man, then she's not a shoe in whatsoever.
Whereas she looks to be in the Mares without Lossie.

                      That rationale I can understand.

                      • Willie usually goes for the easiest race. This year it seems to be owner driven, according to Johnny Dineen on a podcast I watched, albeit Willie has come out and said it's been a 2 year plan! I wonder how many 2 year plans he makes that don't come off further down the line that we don't hear about, my guess would be bloody loads, because I'm very much of the belief that Willie plans ahead for near enough every horse.

I wouldn't blame Gigginstown nor Gordon for sending Brighterdaysahead to the Mares Hurdle, not one bit. As many attest to, people remember the winners, but rarely remember the losers.

I'd argue that Gordon doesn't have the same number of horses Willie gets, so to get a winner on the board early days would be a good start for him and his team.

                        • I would add, if BDA runs and wins cosy enough in Dublin and they still go for the mares.

                          The games fucking gone

And as I'll be at Cheltenham that day, As a form of protest - I'll be throwing a bag of shit at the O'leary's as they waltz into the parade ring like they own it.

And also the BHA reps or whoever thinks having this mares hurdle in it's current form at the festival is a good idea still.

That includes all members on here who disagree on that.

I've already started shitting in bags as preparation. Just got to work out how to get past security and explain what's in the bags next.
Maybe disguising the smell with Paco Rabanne ?

If you now don't do this I'll be ignoring you wholly in future on the basis you're full of hot air

Just hide the bags in the parade ring days or weeks prior, and then fetch them on the day, like michael corleone. If it had to be on the day, maybe storing it in lots of water balloons would be easier to hide, as opposed to one big bag.
