Nick luck spoke to Mullins about Lossiemouth and he said after seeing her work last week he knew she wouldn’t win a champion and Townsend adamantly pickin state man, she was gonna go mares. But Mullins was pausing and stuttering on her chance even for that races. So may be word of caution that she’s not the same horse at the moment for whatever reason.

Yes, I thought he was trying, and not successfully, to hide his disappointment without being overly critical of the owner who had been pressing him for a Festival winner. Ricci has gone from having usually a handful of live chances to this year with really only Lossiemouth.

’A lot has happened in the last week in racing, and we decided at the last minute to let Lossiemouth take her chance in the Mares’ Hurdle where Paul indicated he would like to ride her and that was a big part of the decision-making process. She comes here off a fall at Leopardstown but hopefully she can put all that behind her and repeat last year’s success.’
