Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

  • Thanks Envoi . That sounds promising. I expect they'll leave it late and see if the likes of BDA and Lossiemouth run. If both run then I'd say she'll miss it but if none or 1 run then she'd take her chance (pardon the pun) as she could easily pick up some lovely place money.

    • Kevin Blake doubling down.

With less than 50 days until the 2025 Cheltenham Festival starts, Kevin thinks the market may have it wrong about Brighterdaysahead's chance in the Mares’ Hurdle.

      • Yeah saw that Arch. He's had a proper wedge on BDA for the Mares hasn't he !!

          • Jade De Grugy back in training, sounds like she'll rock up at Cheltenham, not sure whether she'll run before. Would like to see her in that Grade 3 at Punchestown mid to late February tbh before going.

If Lossiemouth goes CH and Kargese misses the race due to non stayer then Willie will be left with zilch for the race so JDG could be his only chance. He might do a Quevega with her.

                Worth risking 14/1 ?

Her NRNB price of 6/1 is pathetic - no-one on the planet is taking that

Worth a little Tenner if you aren't already on. Cost of 1 1/2 pints.

                    • Moves on the exchanges for Brighterdaysahead in recent days.

Was around 2.7 odd now into 2.2 having been matched at 2.4

Champion Hurdle she is weak for. Last matched @ 8.

                          Me?

Or the fact she could end up in the Mares?

Could be both, I guess, haha!

                            The latter....love you COD

Just a horrible thought that the best 2m hurdler of this season will not be given the chance to win the Champion Hurdle. Crazy stuff. If it makes Lossiemouth's chances of winning greater then so be it.

Yeah, I guess there are a few ways to look at it.

Do you want a festival winner? If so, which is the easiest option, especially after being beat last season over 2m.

Does Gordon have anything else in the Mares Hurdle to step up? Probably not.

Do they really want to take on Constitution Hill if he's at his best? Again, probably not.

Is she actually the best 2m hurdler of the season, she's yet to face Lossiemouth or Constitution Hill. Of course, she hammered State Man, but that was too bad to be true, I'd rather take the run before as proper form, in which case beating State Man by 3/4 length is not good enough if Constitution Hill is bang in form.

I can, however, see the point of view of many others, in that winning a key trial for a Champion Hurdle over Christmas should lean them towards the Champion Hurdle at the festival, but in all honesty, I feel like they may have made their decision before the season had even started, albeit, just because the exchanges are leaning towards it doesn't mean it's actually going to happen.

                              • I feel sorry for the O'Leary's that they can possibly come to this decision. No one else would. What are they thinking. Weird. Wanting a winner is one thing. Throwing away the chance of possibly winning the Champion Hurdle is another. She looks to have improved immensely this season slamming the current champion whereas Lossiemouth has already disappointed once and Constitution Hill , although winning, looking a long way from his best. I don't understand it one bit.
