  • ….Kevin Blake puts up his GC selection;

    From a betting perspective, the play that might make the most sense is to support the Jospeh O’Brien-trained BANBRIDGE in a Non-Runner No-Bet market. The nine-year-old has a well-known preference for a sounder surface and is only likely to run if acceptable ground prevails, which is why it is important to have the insurance of Non-Runner No-Bet.

    However, if the ground is suitable and he does run, he is all-but certain to be the clear second favourite and quite a bit shorter than he is currently trading. His victory in the King George VI Chase wasn’t just a career-best effort, it confirmed his stamina for staying chases.

    This race will represent another step into the unknown in that regard, but he hit the line very strongly at Kempton and would seem to have a fine chance of staying the longer trip of the Gold Cup should he get his preferred ground.

    • That there from Kevin Blake really reads like he reckons GDC is home and hosed but he had to find an angle, any angle, and that angle is that Banbridge will be shorter on the day.

                        It made me want to belt out a few bars of titanium in a broad scouse accent.

                          Oi I was a fan before Codd so he’s third in the fanboy queue.

                          I do think he’s the most exciting and his trainer is holding the price. Not a race to go big in unless there’s a standout that happens every few years. But I do like WBMW as the bet.
