I agree with this but also get where Archie is coming from. I have taken a completely different approach to the bumper this year as it often ends up stacked so have just gone for Classical Creek, Quantum Boy and Leaky Cauldron at this stage. Unless something leaps out beforehand it's not a race i will be re-visiting until after Christmas though will obviously be noting things down.

I am not convinced we should be looking anywhere but Closutton for the Bumper winner. Willie has won 4 of the last 5 and the fifth year Fact to File was 2nd to A Dream To Share. It's a brave man who sticks his head above the parapet and selects a non Mullins horse for Bumper in the monthly Yankee. Just saying.

You can't really give him Sir Gerhard.

Anyone looking for the winner of the Champion Bumper in October should consider therapy. Building a book is all very well but, at this stage, there are literally so many possibilities that it's likely to be expensive unless you have inside knowledge.

JdV was backed by plenty on here last year around this time.

We've had Ferny Hollow (albeit he disappointed until a couple of weeks before the bumper), Sir Gerhard and Envoi Allen all up early as well.

4 of the last 6 up on here early, Facile Vega was put up before he was named IIRC and plenty got on him towards the end of November. Only A Dream To Share who I don't think anyone mentioned previously Xmas. One of the easiest ones historically to get the shortlist on early.

I don’t want to speak out of turn but Is it time we addressed the elephant in the room and maybe let someone else do it regularly instead or designate someone different at the start of the month unless MOM checks in and states he’s wanting to do it that month?

….its an awkward one given MoM has said he’d be here to make the selections this month.

i did suggest at the start of the season we should try and get the bet up timeously ( by the 1st of each month).

its the FJs bet, so happy to take your steer.
