Hello Fat Jockeys,

  • October ‘24 ‘Roger Diamond Geezer Hunter’ Yankee

It’s a tradition that we remember our old friend ‘Diamond Geezer’ by having one of the monthly Yankees named in his honour, so i hope you all agree we should do that this month.

Hoping we can also welcome back Middle_Of_March this month, he suggested this would be the case, it’ll be good if he can confirm.

Anyway, I think the stable tours might start in the next few weeks which could help inform nominations but in the meantime let the discussion begin.

I would like to put forward Golden Ace for the Mares Hurdle , I know she's already in April's yankee , .
But with the update in the Racing Post today , Confirming the Mares Hurdle as the aim . ... Target assured .. 10-1 still available .

….nothing to stop us including her again, we might know more about Lossiemouth’s target this month.

i’ll throw an early shout in for The Enabler (AB). Good case put up & popular elsewhere on site, currently a best 25-1.

I'm going to suggest Gale Mahler for the Mares Hurdle. She's already high enough with an OR135 to be able to win the race. She went over to Galway and spanked the Mullins, De Bromhead, and Elliott entries in the race by an eased down 10 lengths. She met unexposed horses in the 120's and 130's that day, so there's a solid feel about it. Flying Fortune also franked the form again from Market Rasen Summer Plate Day the other day. And the manner of all her victories have been effortless, and she could have won much further in all of her races.

She's from an unfashionable stable which is why 25/1 is still available, but so was last seasons winner, in fact the last 3 winners were Golden Ace, You Wear It Well. and Love Envoi, all unfashionable at the time of their wins. The combination of Gale Mahler's growing experience edge over her rivals which means they can keep her away from winter ground like Jeremy Scott did with Golden Ace last year, and the facile nature of her four novice hurdle wins suggests she is very much worth considering while she's still 25/1.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

….Golden Ace (MH), Gale Mahler (MNH) nominated, all we need now is the Mares Chase and it’s looking like a theme.

Has Salvator Mundi been covered in a Yankee yet? Feel 20/1 for supreme could be huge especially with stable tours just around the corner?…

…..no, not as yet. Don’t actually recall any nominations but he’s certainly got his supporters on here.

                      Evening all.

Can confirm I will be back this month.

big thanks to Eggs as always and everyone who’s helped and done selections this summer. And of course everyone who’s contributed.

It has simply been a crazy summer. The good and the bad. Mostly the unexpected. But now it’s time to move on and go again. And the start of the jumps season and the October Yankee is a great place to start with the preview books, the stable tours and the first few jumps races all in October.

Lovely touch as well with naming the Yankee after our much missed Diamond Geezer.

                        Yeah I agree.
My record in the Supreme is horrific so I'm best ignored, but everything last season told us this would be Mullins main Supreme dart and I'm a little surprised 20/1 is generally available.
The Irish Rugby September yankee (L15) sets a really high bar, we could all use a half a million to one acca...

Has anyone seen an update on Impervious? I know many were keen on her for the Ryanair last year and if she comes back from injury well, I think they may opt for the easier target of the Mares Chase and could be a good shout for the Yankee although 11/2 @ 365 is a bit short.

….Kargese 7-1 for the Mares Hurdle, perhaps. Being talked up elsewhere on site so could be popular and with doubts about some ahead of her turning up.

Controversial view but I think this is a horror race to bet ante post this year.
If, as has been suggested, Lossie has her wings clipped pre Cheltenham, or everything that could head to the Champion Hurdle does get there, and she reverts to the Mares it's basically a penalty kick...
