  • Gordon on The Wallpark:

"On all known form I think he'd find it hard to beat Teahupoo but I could see him rattling home fast now to be honest and I don't think he's out of the race.

"He'll have learned an awful lot from that [the Long Walk], jumping at that speed and whatnot. I don't think the race was really run to suit him, they mightn't have gone fast enough for him.

"What I loved about him was from the last to the line he really hit the line strong and for a Stayers Hurdle, that's the type of horse you need."

He's a definite chance in my eyes, just the kind of profile that could win a race like this. I put him up at 33s, and I like him.

Glad to see confirmation he goes here now, maybe that horsewatcher blokey knows a thing or 2.

I'm still hoping he goes for the Pertemps. Gordon saying one thing doesn't mean JP & his lot agree.

Think he'll have a great chance in the Pertemps and a solid enough E/W chance in the Stayers. 33's is a great price.

Will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

I said previous that blokey told me they were happy to go stayers with him, whether that's correct we'll have to wait, but looks more promising now than it did over Xmas.

Yeah, I think Quevega said about him going down that route too, despite my belief he would be a shoo-in for the Pertemps.

I'd say most likely he goes Stayers now given recent chat.

            • I'm pretty sure I read Bob Olinger is being aimed here by Henry

Standout 66/1 each way seems fair

If you look at his price relative to Home By The Lee, he's been beaten by him twice and you'd be surprised if he reversed the form, but it does look the best of the Irish form this season?

Teahupoo 3.5L behind Lossiemouth over 2m4f IMO isn't 'stronger' form anyway (this season)... granted he's the correct fav?

Then perhaps Rockys Diamond (who was 3rd in the same race at Christmas behind Bob and HBTL), who recently put away Thedevilscoachman and is now a best priced 16/1 for this

So just based on those prices of Home By The Lee (7/1) and Rockys Diamond (16/1), I think you can argue he should be less than 66/1

10 years old though, but as a previously classy horse, at least it's an each way angle

I've had an epiphany this year.

This race is complete shite and I wouldn't lament being rid of it, not that that'd ever happen. The very fact we're discussing a busted flush like Bob Olinger being a potential bet for it makes me wanna horse laugh.

Sound logic on the price though.

I'd probably fancy Envoi Allen more for the Ryanair than Bob for this if Henry has his mojo back in time for the festival.

11 year old Sire Du Berlais beat Teahupoo in this race not 2 seasons ago

100/1 when posted on here #justsayin

Worse horses than 'Busted Bob' have won this race

Sounds like the start of a yankee to me

Not knocking the selection, just a bit meh in terms of the standard of the race that this is even a realistic bet.

The race just doesn't excite imo.

Think he said more along the lines of they’ll consider it. I’d say Teahupoo and Hiddenvalley lake will go stayers and Bob will be saved for Aintree

Yeah can't argue with that - I did post not long ago about the entire Thursday having a similar feel

....and if Studfarm254 is correct, it's even worse

                        • Nameon lion no entry in the champ hurdle might suggest this is the route this year, one to keep an eye on if he turns up in the rendlesham on saturday, might be a player if he takes to or improves for 3miles.

There was a story on irishracing a few days ago where the trainer said he intends to scratch him from this race too, something about him preferring flat tracks.
