Anyway he’s exposed over the distance tied in closely with those that have been running here this season.
Take your 7 year old point though

I think it'll be interesting to see what the handicapper does with the front 2 from the Cleeve
Looking at the result and the Weights carried, the front 3 have all run to their current ratings.
I'm surprised gowel road is still available at 25/1 nrmb. For the pertemps.
I see Nigel twiston Davies has said
.
“The handicapper has been hard on him all season, but now he’s won a race which is good. It’s a lovely race to win and this is smashing. He’ll definitely have to go to the Stayers’, any idea of going for the Pertemps Final is gone now
But if the handicapper felt he had the ratings of the front 3 correct already, is there a chance gowel road could still go for the pertemps or has he now earned his shot at the stayers?Last edited by AaronLad; 27 January 2025, 10:05 AM.

As an aside I thought it was a dire Cleeve, just a handful of runners and not too sure how many of them were trying, and it's that that makes the handicappers job tough when assessing the race because if he is lenient on Gowel Road he's almost compelled to drop everything else, which I think he'll be unlikely to do....

Maybe a 1lb either way for botox has -1 and monmiral +1 if he kept gowel road the same.
He could drop strong leader and crambo but he could also point to crambo being unbeaten right handed and much worse left handed and leave him unchanged.
Strong Leader first run since wind op.
To be fair they probably need dropping a few lbs anyway.

Not sure whether to put this post in ‘under the radar’ or here but as the horse is looking a definite runner here and is 5th in the Bet365 betting for this race thought I’d mention him. Rocky’s Diamond’s win in the Galmoy last week revealed a few traits needed for this race as he is a real stayer and has a determination to win. He has been a revelation this season for his small stable (Queally). Probably not stopped improving. He is though only a 5 year old and that has to be a question mark against him. But I thought he should be at least on the radar of this forum.
