  • Not fancying him for the Stayers, but have a feeling Langer Dan might strike in the Relkeel, and have backed accordingly.

I wonder if they'll change tactics with him this season, winning what they can early on over 'his' trip then chucking him in the Stayers because of his rating, and coming up short on the day.

    • Lucky Place good again.
      Looks like being stepped up
next time, on course for the Stayers now I imagine.

Yep, a much improved horse but just can't see him at the top table in the Stayers. Place claims perhaps. Something would need to be amiss with Teahupoo.

Well he’s 3rd fav of the likely runners at this stage, so certainly has place claims
Dont expect him to beat Teahupoo but having an improver on side e/w is ok with me

He feels like this year’s Crambo. Will ultimately come up short in March but could sneak a place for those on at longer odds. Saw Q mention Corbetts for this on a post earlier. That wouldn’t surprise me at all, be right up Emmett’s street and same MO as Noble Yeats last year.

              • I thought that was a real good staying performance from Lucky place yesterday.
I'm hoping there are members that identified him as a potential improver this season.
The exciting thing for me is, he hasnt even stepped up in trip yet, cant wait to see that.
                Come on the lucky!!!!

Yes I thought so as well.
Hes an improver alright and is an exciting prospect and will be very interesting to see how far he can go this season when stepped up to 3m.
He could be the biggest challenge to the fav.

                  Going chasing next season apparently.

Completely agree. Had him on the list for the BANC before the season started and then have been building a small pot on him for the stayers.

Did you think he idled in front? Found plenty when Gowel Road came back to him. He could be one that needs to be produced at the right time.

                    • I quite like Hiddenvalley Lake at 20/1 for this outwith Teahupoo.

Same ownership but different trainer, he seems to be improving with each run. Last season you can sort of right off after a fairly heavy chase debut fall they reverted back to hurdles. I was hoping they would mind his mark for the coral cup but he bolted up in the Boyne Hurdle and saved him for Aintree, which he ran a decent race finishing third only beaten just under 5 lengths. Comeback run this season ran a cracker beaten a head by Crambo, now I’d want him to have won that day with a view to winning the stayers but he’ll likely improve for it. He’s lightly raced and as above his figures are improving with each run. Not great course run finishing 9th in the AB as a novice but can always forgive one run at the course. Not backed him yet but will pull the trigger if the DRF field doesn’t look up to much as I can see him winning that and halving in price.

It’s not a without BN, was just saying outwith Teahupoo he’s one I like at the price.

                          20’s is with 365.

If they had him 20’s without I’m be going heavy on it haha!

I'd say Nicky is spot on with his assessment of lucky when he says he just loves a battle/loves racing.

for me, a horse idles because they get lonely or think the jobs done, I'd say this fella just wants a battle, loves his racing.

I don't think he'll be forging clear up the hill, but it'll take a warrior to get up it before him.
