Could he be another Sire du Berlais who after winning the Pertemos went on to win the Stayers off 152 with Teauphoo back in 3rd. Maybe having learned from that experience Elliott now bypasses the Pertemps and goes straight to the Stayers!

Anyone know anything about the mare July Flower?
Read that she was gone to Henry's. She is in around Home by the Lee going on the 3 mile hurdle race in auteuil last May.
Wouldn't mind taking a few of these on with a mare that was 150ish rated, then getting 7lbs.

I backed Franciscan Rock for the Pretemps yesterday at 33/1 in the hope that he won’t get too much of a handicap hike for Clonmel victory, last years Coral Cup is reading well form wise with Lucky Place & Langer Dan looking graded class at least.

Maybe an underperforming pipe opener at the DRF could keep the rating in the region of 142, Mouse Morris is a cute hoor so wouldn’t be surprised if he plots an o”clever route for a Pretemps poke. FR has course form & genuine graded form over hurdles!

The Wallpark, currently clear fav for The Pertemps, is being lined up for the Long Walk Hurdle next which could mean a possible tilt at the Stayers Hurdle.

I have backed him for this, seems an ideal fit for it, and at the price it was a no brainer

I wonder as to whether Mystical Power could step up in trip over time? Willie has at least 2 others for the CH, if not 3. Can’t really see a Supreme 2nd in the County.

The hill would be the concern, but it does seem to be a race where Willie hasn’t got a contender.

One of his horses expected to go Novice Chasing this season will be kept back imo. Which one is anyone's guess. He has an abundance of potential staying Novice chasers.......too many. My guess is High class Hero.

Willie did say after newcastle that he thinks mystical power probably needs 2m 4f or even further...it was the the even further bit that caught my attention.

He specifically mentioned stayers in the stable tour.
He definitely wants to aim him at that now (you can tell), just depends on JP's racing manager.

Mystical Power

He never shows off at home so we went for a Ballinrobe bumper hoping he would run well and he did. He just improved the whole season and I think he's come back looking a better horse - I think he's grown. He's a late developer. We haven't decided which direction we're going to go. I would think probably novice chasing, but he was second in the Supreme and won his next two races after that which shows me he's improving. He could go down the staying hurdle route, I don't think he'd be fast enough for the Champion Hurdle and probably hasn't got a high enough rating.

I haven't discussed it with connection yet so we'll see what they want to do. I'd like to go jumping with him, he jumps well. Every time you put something in front of him he achieves it and I'd say he has a lovely temperament to go novice chasing. That's where I'd be but I haven't made a plan with connections.

From the first stable tour in sporting life - obviously since then JP's lot said no to chasing and wanted to go fighting fifth. Willie probably wasn't keen and he ran like Willie may have wanted to prove his point. Reckon he'll get his way in the long run.

To add to that he also recently alluded to Ballyburn being third string (of his behind Lossie and State Man) for the Champion hurdle, so he must have had Mystical well down that list on ratings alone,

The Wallpark stayed on very eyecatchingly after a steady enough pace

33/1 with pp/bf for this will do

could go Pertemps, but hes rated high enough, and wont be dropped after that imo, tougher test will suit him well
