I joined in on HF's win. 250s I was happy about.

You aren't quite getting it are you with East india dock.

I didn't fancy the horse because his form was beating fred winter horses all season long.

Your comments regarding Poniros doing the same as him is completely wrong, the horse was making his hurdles debut you plonker. I didn't say a thing about being against ex flat horses.

      Got lucky too

Went to pre parade and thought they looked pretty similar and lots nice Mullins unknowns so had a few quid on all his long shots....only 160s when i did, so you beat me

Not great race tho and sometimes when you win you can't help thinking you would rather have seen something more classy

Not sure how much will come out of it....time will tell

Well said. And I think it’s rightfully called out on public forum where people will (rightfully or wrongly) follow someone in who’s made a bit of a point of it to say they know a lot of the French form. Which is fine. Everyone has their niche.

I don’t follow Jim on Twitter nor have I realised he was on here but I did know of the situation. But to have backed a dozen in the race antepost, having spent months and months by the sounds of it claiming the flat horse type would be beaten, and then brag you’ve backed the winner (the same type of horse who you’re dead against) at 200+ is outrageous stuff to just slide in there.

darlojim I have no doubt you probably have backed it but I fail to see why you’d think it sensible to aftertime the winner when you’ve been making such a point about how a flat bred horse won’t win. If someone was following you on the race and you’ve done that, they’d be rightfully gutted/pissed off.

I could get shot down for this but I think it’s the sort of thing it’s right to call out.

        • I don’t know if Jim did the same as me and just stuck a little on the outsiders just in case, but I can’t see any bragging going on here.
Just mentioning getting lucky, which anyone that stuck a quid or two on the winner did.
Hes not fancied it and therefore backed it .
Its obvious to me that he would have been cheering Lulamba on up the hill.
Only bit of bragging that can see, if that’s what anyone wants to call it, is Lulamba beating EID, which he did.

Jim admitted it was pure luck getting the winner, simply a lucky punt.

Some overreaction going on here imo.

What bollocks have I woken up to here then

Can I please just get this point across because a few aren't getting it into their head.

I've been against East India Dock all season as I was of the opinion he was beating fred winter horses and the form wasn't worth much, not because he was an ex flat horse.

Like I've previously also said, I absolutely fluked getting the winner, pure luck, a pure punt on 3 outsiders, a tenner split between 3 of them, as the week was going bananas results wise. No expert opinion on it, nothing. Jesus wept

I'm gutted that Lulamba didn't win, absolutely sick to be honest as I was so so strong on him.

Also, who's backed a dozen in the race?

Pre race I was on Lulamba 33s, HN 40s special and Larzac 40s or 50s NRNB (can't remember which, and fully expected this to be money returned)

Then split a note on 3 rags.

Even if i did end up with a dozen, is that wrong? are people not allowed to change their approach and make a book on a race? Shall I run it by you next time?

            Plonker.

Yupp exactly that CAT, people maybe getting a bit hot headed after a poor week, who knows.

Lulamba was the result for me, sick that he came up just a little short.

But my Lulamba was better than EID was bang on the money, it's nice to be right once in a while, we're all wrong more times than right in this game, game of opinions.

                The only thing I'd add,

Is it might be at least worth acknowledging more strongly than you have already - that you were only just right with Lulamba vs East India (by 3/4 of a length)

The actual result does not correlate with the strength of opinion prior.

In my mind it actually means you were wrong and got lucky, then unlucky with Poniros charging home, then lucky by choosing to grab the big prices on him for small stakes.
Criticism on the Poniros aspect is not really justified IMO

I have been similarly strong on some horses in the past, and was proven wrong.
Abracadabras was one where I spent all season laughing at backers and then he nearly chinned Shishkin.
I got that wrong, but got lucky.

If people really want to get pissed off about Poniros.

I sat watching the race in the pub yesterday and when he passed the line, I couldn't even recall for certain if I'd backed him or not, because I'd not noted on my phone notes and cannot access betfair on my phone (stupid password issues). All the kids I was with couldn't believe I sat there motionless and then mentioned I'd likely backed it.

I got paranoid because I knew I'd not backed all the unraced ones and only 2 or 3 of them, and Pappano sounds similar.
I was pretty sure I'd backed the Bloom horse though and not the other beginning with P.
I actually went through them all on 6 day entry stage, what flat rating/form, owners and purchase prices etc. And was disgusted that Willie had entered so many potential dangers.

First thing I did when I got home was switch the chromebook on and check. £1 @ 550-1 after 6 day entries -
                Obviously regretting not risking more

It's obviously a little bit tongue in cheek and 'fighting talk' Q, you of all people should know this ha..

Yeah of course I was wrong with Lulamba not winning the race, and like you've said, and I've now said multiple times, I've got lucky.

God you aftertimer, you'll have an army of people with pitchforks coming at you, 550s that is just taking the piss.

                      • I still think EID was the bet in the race now

Not sure it's worth arguing about those. When nobody was right... Even the after timers haven't got the result I'm sure they wanted.

Say what you like fella. I’ve no dog in the fight and I’ll play the ball and not the man. I just think you’ve had a bit of a stinker here to immediately after the race come on here and quickly throw in an aftertime when you’ve made such a huge point about flat bred horses.

Even your aftertime post referred to Lulamba ‘beating that flat yoke’ whilst simultaneously ignoring the winner was a flat horse.

Sorry can you show me where I made this point please pal, as if I did I can't remember so would gladly hold my hands up, just tag me in the post of whatever

my post afterwards referenced strictly EID as being 'the flat yoke', it wasn't a general opinion on the type of horse. The comment is exactly the same as someone calling a FR import 'a french pig'. I wouldn't then come on to defend every single FR import, thats just silly stuff isn't it, and quite blatantly obvious they're referencing an individual.

Hey Guys - Let’s just let it go. At the end of the day Lulamba looks an exciting horse for the future, EID looks an exciting horse for the future and I look forward to seeing the eleven horses Willie entered going forward, obviously including the winner. They finished with a couple of lengths of one another and, who knows, if it was run again we may get a different result. It was a cracking race and hopefully these two will continue to take each other on for years to come.
