  • I'll go out on a limb and say the winner of the triumph won't be coming from that race

    • Willy much more likely for the handicap now.
Willie likely to place him in another low grade race for previous winners, then if he's improved and wins that then he might throw him in a graded race prior to cheltenham.
depends what mark he gets i suppose.

But I'm not giving up hope

Ran with the choke out for 2m chasing a runaway leader, and look where he's finished

Surprised Nimble was even off today....

          I've actually rebacked

He ran with the choke out for 2m

The winner was ridden cold, and to pick up the pieces

Take the winner out of the race, look how the leader has faulted.

I'm honestly not too disheartened by it, obviously would have liked for him to go and win tho ffs.

Willies will come on aswell sooo

Hcap wise, I'd still say theyll rate him fairly high no?

**Winning jock said as much aswell - race fell apart infront of him

For his third effort over hurdles he also jumped like a spaz though.
But I can see the pace collapse angle.
Not ideal as a triumph prospect though.
Depends on highly Willie ranks him as to what they decide to do next.
Not sure on his mark, the French form is mixed.

Hood was left off and he was very gassy

Wouldn't surprise me if that went back on next time

Was always a lose lose situation today really

Yeah depends if they take into account the Cambaceres form with NH really.

Vauban was making his hurdle debut and was beat by a horse who ended up 3rd in the Triumph. This was Willy's third start.

                  • He has some serious knee action so probably wants soft ground to be seen at his best.

I won't be getting involved after that defeat. It wasn't a Vauban type debut.

                    • Looks like it's up to my girl (Murcia) to bring it home for team Mullins this season

Still 25's with 365 but a fair hair cut today with a few today after that from Willie!

                        66s if you were sharp

Vauban clattered the final hurdle in that race aswell

Which is great but not reflective of the current market!

Think they can still go grade 1 and stick to the plan. If he wins then all back on track, lose and won't harm handicap mark too much. I assume the Fred Winter doesn't follow the other handicap hurdle rules of needing 5 runs?

If so then he should get in off a low mark as the Official handicappers often matches closely with RPRs and Willy's ratings from France are not particularly high. As an example, Gaelic Warrior had RPRs of 102, 132 & 129 and got a mark of 129 for the Fred Winter. Willy De Houelle has 101 & 103 from France. Be pushed to get that rating into the mid 120s I would of thought.
