Stencil does feature in OJA fwiw...

STENCIL 3 b g Masar (IRE) – Fullofwonder (Mastercraftsman (IRE)) OWNER: J.P.McMANUS TRAINER: NOEL GEORGE & AMANDA ZETTERHOLM. CAREER FORM FIGURES: 1 CAREER WIN: 2024: May COMPIEGNE Very Soft NH 2m

Top 40 entry Majborough provided J.P.McManus with his third victory in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham last March. The legendary owner has the same event in mind for another French purchase, namely Stencil, who remains in training with Noel George and Amanda Zetterholm. Previously owned by Edmund John Phelan, he provided his sire Masar with his first winner over jumps when landing an eleven runner conditions hurdle at Compiegne in May. Keen throughout, James Reveley’s mount was still pulling halfway down the backstraight but it didn’t prevent him from winning hard held by a length and three quarters. An athletic type, his jumping was quick and accurate and Stencil readily pulled away after the last with his jockey patting him down the shoulder crossing the line. The triple champion jockey was impressed and, formwise, the fourth (twice), eighth and tenth (twice) have won since. In terms of the clock, his winning time was 3m 59.41secs – compared to another Triumph Hurdle prospect Willy De Houelle, who won over the same C&D in March clocking 4m 24.82secs. One of two debutants in the line up, he was subsequently bought by McManus and gelded during the summer. The same connections’ Milan Tino finished third in Grade 2 juvenile hurdles at Cheltenham in November and January and it will be interesting to see if Stencil follows a similar path en route to the Festival in March. Ex-French racers have won seven of the last eight renewals of the Triumph Hurdle and this unbeaten gelding may enhance that already impressive record still further next spring.

POINTS TO NOTE: Probable Best Distance - 2 miles Preferred Going - Soft

Reveley’s Remarks: “I thought he was very impressive at Compiegne having pulled hard all the way. We fancied him to go close beforehand and I think he could be top-class. He has loads of speed and looks a Triumph Hurdle horse.”

Might have made it up but sure I've seen Mambonumberfive mentioned somewhere as a possible Triumph horse. In case it was you, in OJA, Ben Pauling says:

"He isn't a Triumph Hurdle horse and is hopefully going to be a star of the future over fences"

He's got to protect that 450k for a while yet

Still think Fou De Toi is the big price play here (aside from Murcia) Mullins, Donnelly's, Triumph, yes please. 'Q' will be delighted to know that i haven't entertained Willy De Houelle yet

Still plenty of time for more to be bought - but I personally wouldn't be looking past Willy, Charlus and Murcia for now.

Interesting. I am sure he would have offered enough too. You think they want to breed with her and keep her at home?

She's actually registered as out of training again of late - so presume she must have had an issue.

She was probably the first horse I had highlighted last Spring.

Surely fou gets held back given he hasn't won yet?

Always a chance Odin. It is probably factored into the price. He might just show enough to force him onto the track. Maybe a similar route to Salvator Mundi last year?

Perfect candidate for the Fred Winter I reckon.
