I know you think Nico will make a big difference come March as you seem to think he proved in this years schloer. But he didn't though did he ?
Jonbon will want it to be on the soft side this March also IMO, and I think at 5-1 vs 2-1 Gaelic is the bet.

I share the same views as others though and Gaelic price may hold/drift if he disappoints at Leopardstown again.
But I doubt his SP will be much worse than 5-1, although he could make a right hash of Leopardstown so you never know.
Yes I think he’s already made a difference since he’s been riding him. Every time he’s ridden him he’s looked a different horse to his previous runs without him to me.
I don’t have any concerns with him at Cheltenham anymore. His last run there was imo one of his best jumping performances.
I think he’s simply a better horse now and ultra consistent.
Basically you pretty much know what you will get from him, and that’s better than anything GW has achieved.

He consistently runs at least 6 or 7 lbs below his best at Cheltenham.
      He's a very fragile favourite.

      • With Nico on board he’s run twice at Cheltenham, both first time out.
He always improves for a run, so im not at all surprised if he’s been rated lower than his next runs during the season.

        • Q is right. Whilst Jonbon is as consistent a Grade 1 performer as they come , he is just that little bit below his very best when he sets foot at the Festival. However, he may well get away with it this year as the race is full of Question marks. Gaelic is like a pantomime horse, will he , won't he. El Fabiola and Il Etait Temps no show so far. Energumene is an old man now and definitely needs it deep. Banbridge likely to miss the race. Marine Nationale and Found a Fifty simply not good enough.

It's why I believe Ile Est Francais should go for the race. King George horses do have a bit of history running in and winning the Champion Chase and his style of running just makes me think he'd get them all in trouble.

Whatever your fancy.....the race is absolutely wide open !!!

Maybe he was only 85% fit for those fto runs.

I never see it throughout the year yet my Mrs had four bottles of it in one of the cupboards to drink during the festivities last week.
I used to like the drink but our lass don't buy it anymore.
Still gets fucking bags of mixed nuts and brandy snaps even though no fucker likes em.
I'll be making her eat them throughout January as per usual.
Not by force, I'll probably crumble the brandy snaps up and sprinkle on top of an ice cream sundae.
I'll put the nuts in her car.

Toblerone update - Don't like them anymore.

                and his arkle "effort".

Or was he over the top ?
                Gone in his coat ?
                Needed freshening ?
                Not liked the ground ?

Or the much more rarely used "Beaten by a better horse"

Love a bit of trainer/jockey talk bullshit

                • Oh he was beaten by a better horse on the day,at least it was a better horse,it's when they're beaten by lesser horses that its annoying.

My main point though is the difference that the jockey has made to the horse’s performances.
Nico has never ridden Jonbon at the festival .
