I would say people who do beat the bookies and make a shed load of cash, are probably not so irritable and easily wound up by an opposing opinion on a horse race, which seemingly also rules you out of the reckoning

            • All good natured banter I would hope. Anyway I reserve the right to be the forum’s idiot poster.

El Fabiolo has it all to prove, Jonbon can't win at Cheltenham and Gaelic Warrior could go Ryanair. The race could set itself up for a repeat of a shock winner this year in a race notorious for producing shock results. If Enurgemene is back to near his best he is the pick of all of them for me. I have backed MN and will dip in again at 16s. He is being aimed at it and so will probably Quilixios. I will have them both in the CC team because its such an unpredictable race
Find this a reasonably surprising comment in all honesty.

In the last seven years, there have been two dual winners (energumene and altior) and one who won the Arkle the year before (put the kettle on). Admittedly in
the other two years (captain Guinness and politologue) were surprised winners, but is it all that unpredictable compared to other races?

Champion Hurdle - only honeysuckle has retained in the same time period (although the first year of my counting was buveur dairs second champion hurdle). In that time there's been espoir dallen and epatante who would never have been picked at the start of the year.

Stayers - I don't even wanna go into how unpredictable this one's been! 4 winners bigger than 10/1 on the day of the race in the last 7 years!

Ryanair chase - all over the place with the exception of allaho. Arguably protektorat, frodon and balko des flos all rogue winners at the start of the year.

Gold cup - probably the most consistent with 2 dual winners, one coming from the RSA and two who were placed in the race the year before.

I completely agree the race will cut up so your bets are still warranted in that regard, but I think it's unfair to say it's unpredictable - particularly compared to the other big championship races as I'd have it as one of the most consistent.

If you're going to use Barney Curley's line, remember the "quote marks" or use an emoji to at least pretend you're being humorous

If you want the rainbow, you’ve got to put up with the rain. Do you know which philosopher said that?

                    Dolly Parton.

And people say she’s just a pair of tits.
