I backed 3 for the champion chase last year. Gentleman De Mee 66/1 e/w, Captain Guiness 16/1 e/w and El Fabiolo in multiple roll ups. I thought 2 of them had no chance but could get a place potentially.
El Fabiolo has it all to prove, Jonbon can't win at Cheltenham and Gaelic Warrior could go Ryanair. The race could set itself up for a repeat of a shock winner this year in a race notorious for producing shock results. If Enurgemene is back to near his best he is the pick of all of them for me. I have backed MN and will dip in again at 16s. He is being aimed at it and so will probably Quilixios. I will have them both in the CC team because its such an unpredictable race

But no harm in having one or two at bigger prices, as you say it can be unpredictable.

I think people are often guilty this far out of thinking every race at Cheltenham is going to be a lot better than it actually turns out, but there are just as many poor renewals of the top races as quality ones.
So it think it's a bit crazy to be writing off marine nationale after a disappointing first run in nine months, as if plenty of those ahead of him in the market who have won and placed in champion chases havent put in woeful performances numerous times , although i would have hoped he'd have been pushed out further than 16s. I agree and think the 50/1 about quilixios is a must bet too, yes he was disappointing a few times last season but he's still a young horse, de bromhead trained and was faultless at the weekend. Plus he's being aimed here and his well being is known which is more than you can say for a good few in the market.

Most likely winner appears to be gaelic warrior (if it runs), jonbon is a second place horse. fabiolo cant jump, marine nationale isnt good enough. Energumene the only danger but a year lay off and will be 11 come March.....
