Nope not a market I'm one bit interested in right now.
Happy to see how it plays out a little, but I am of the opinion he will end up champ chase bound and Gaelic ryanair
My biggest take from the comment was Gaelic not getting a mention, so I agree they probably have other ideas for him this season.
There is an argument 6/1 in what will be a small field race is value, it's got me thinking....
Yeah, I think he's a belting good bet and have loaded up on the related double with Gaelic Ryanair.
I'm genuinely baffled that I seem to see things so differently to everyone else but at least I can (hopefully) win big off the back of it
I was adding El Fab to a ton of multis at 3/1 last year so getting double that price this season on the face of it is value, if you can trust his jumping...

Yup, I left him alone last year at the prices but it turned into a shocking race. His jumping issues are nothing new so it's just something to accept as risk imo. He's still a CD winner and they still evidently see him as top of the tree. Last year, he ran 169+ on all three completed starts despite Willie supposedly never really being happy with him and went off 2/9 in the race. Not saying he'll be that price this year, but if he gets there as PT choice, it's hard to see how he doesn't go off evens having won the DRF Grade 1 over 2m and maybe even the Xmas Grade 1.
Added to that when you look at the race, every other horse has doubts as well:
- Jonbon better elsewhere (Aintree and Sandown in particular)
- Energumene has it all to prove coming back from injury and could easily face off against Jonbon in Clarendon House so we know where they both stand
- Marine Nationale has a beginners chase to his name and will struggle on winter ground (for all he might come good on spring good ground)
- Gaelic will be split by the trainer/jockey combo from one of El Fab/Energumene and goes King George when he could go Tingle Creek if he was seen as a 2 miler
- Il Etait Temps surely goes Ryanair
- I'm struggling to see any other dangers?

Absolutely, no depth in the division and nothing new will appear from the clouds.
I am tempted by the 6/1 (for multis)...
"The best novice hurdler will be the best novice chaser ... For that reason and that reason alone, I'm going to go for ballyburn".
"But I don't think dropping back in trip, with the Turners now gone, will be of any inconvenience to him"
It made me think it was genuine as Ruby said it mid-flow rather than being an answer to a question (which he is very deft at messing about with).
He did then go on to say "I'm not sure he goes chasing so maybe I shouldn't even be saying it", but then again went on to put him up as his chaser to follow (in open or novice company). I think he just thought "ah shite, I've given the game away" with that little caveat.
