Clever from him - get as many of Galopins opponents into the Ryanair so the 3 peat is easier.

Willie will have one of Gaelic, EF or Energumene in there for Paul to ride anyway you'd think.

      • Fact To File cash out back up again, probably on the back of JM pouring a little cold water on Spillane Towers participation.

May explain the money coming for Corbetts in the big one as well. I’d say Corbetts would be unlikely to win a Ryanair or Gold Cup but Fact To File would be a strong fav in the Ryanair but would be unlikely to turn form round with Galopin, especially if beat again at the DRF.

Agreed and I think if you take F2F out of the Gold Cup it's wide open for a place or sneaking a win if anything happens to Galopin.

Interesting. Maybe the decision has been made to miss the DRF. Surely if he was to run at the DRF and win over 2m, he would go to the QMCC.

Dublin Chase - Ryanair is the plan all being well

If he would the Dublin Chase then that plan would be up in smoke I'd imagine.

Hmmm can't work that out. Unless JJ Slevin is going to be told not to put him in the race and use it just to get fitness up.

                    • I did not think Josh was convinced with what he was saying himself, especially with regards the Dublin Chase participation.
He said it like it was going to happen, but not with conviction.

                      • From the Sportinglife.com a couple of days ago.

Il Est Francais is heading straight to Cheltenham with the Ryanair seemingly the least likely of his three potential targets there.

Noel George has ruled out heading to Kempton for the Ladbrokes Trophy with his freewheeling King George runner-up and will have a close eye on the action from Ascot on Saturday.
"I’m very much keeping my cards close to my chest and I think we’ve just got to watch the races over the next month or so. The Clarence House Chase at Ascot at the weekend is going to be a big decider in where we go.
“I’d be surprised if we went for the intermediate distance unless the race really cut up. At the moment, it looks like a lot of people are taking the Ryanair route and if that was looking a strong race, I think we might go for one of the others.
“If they all decide to go Champion Chase or Gold Cup route, then we might reconsider, but at the moment, if the Ryanair is as strong as it looks on paper, we probably wouldn’t be going to it.”

                        • So in other words......we are none the wiser. Could go anywhere! He'll go to the easiest option whatever that might be.

I think most thought the Ryanair would be the most likely but now it's the least likely according to the trainer, if he is to be believed. I'll be cashing everything out anyway once ElFab is confirmed(maybe not FTF).

                            • I'm not sure any of those will cut up and be easy. Possible opponents imo are:

                              CC - Garlic, Jonbon, Energumene
Ryanair - Fact To File, El Fab
                              Gold Cup - Galopin, Banbridge

I'd like to see him in the CC and do a BDA

Please do not cash anything out based on what Josh Stacey says - the lad is wrong more often than he is right.

Like has already been said - if El Fab comes out and wins the Dublin Chase over 2 miles, they're bound to go for the Champion Chase - he's already shown he's better than Jonbon over course and distance.
