His trainer said post race at the weekend he does think English style of racing suits him better and I could concur with that myself. Auteuil fences are definitely unique and some of those ditches there are sketchy to say the least.

The English fences allow him to get into a great rhythm with his exuberance and fluency and that alone makes it much tougher for the opposition to keep in touch. We seen in the Kauto star that even the Nicholls horse was jumping pretty well in the main and IEF was still taking lengths out of him

I’d want at least 33-1 about IEF even turning up at the festival let alone picking a race.

I wasn't sure where to place this, but here is as good as any - given that he contested last seasons' Ryanair.

According to the latest Owners Group update, Nicholls is thinking of stepping Stage Star up in trip.
Personally, I think that he got out-stayed in the Ryanair last year, so I don't see him getting the Gold Cup trip (or being good enough).
He won't go to the King George, as he has to go left-handed, so he'll probably end up here again!

I would rather see him dropped in trip and trying to make-all from the front over 2 miles..... but I haven't won any trainers titles, so what do I know!?!?

My early fancy for this is Bravemansgame, I just can't get away from the similararities with Proktektoriat this year. A former 170+ rated horse who's been placed in a Gold Cup who is on the wane somewhat. Decent festival form including being placed in two grade 1s. Being a 10 year old next year wouldn't put me off either.for a Ryanair.

He was my first Ryanair bet because of the similarities you mention...And, he will be aimed at the King George again no doubt. 16/1'ish available for him. I will be backing him e/w for that hoping he gets placed which would also cement the Ryanair thought process a little. Double bubble

I don’t think Bravemansgame has the change of gears to win what will likely be a better Ryanair than Protektorat won last year. He’ll likely set it up for something coming off the pace.

He never really had a great change of gears but it’s gotten even less potent as he’s matured.

I think it’s possible Bravemansgame could win the King George again, but is it not better to wait until post race if you don’t see him as the likely winner in that race?

Hes unlikely to be cut too much if he wins his seasonal return against likely inferior opposition, loses in the King George which I expect to happen you’ll surely get a better price than he is now? That may depend on the morale of defeat right enough.

The King George will be a much hotter renewal this coming season too, provided Fastorslow & Il Est Francais show up as has been mooted by connections. You’ll definitely get a better price post race. Hewick is as slow as as boat & collared him late last year.

My thinking is along very similar lines but with l'homme presse being the horse instead of Bravemansgame, although i haven't backed him.

He’s 33/1 for the KG for a reason imo

That’s where I was going SR without being too harsh on Bravemansgame

Completely agree he won’t win if those 2 and WPM sends one over he’ll be lucky to place.

Protektorak was a very forward going type over 3m that benefitted from the step back in trip & stronger pace in the Ryanair last year, the only similarities are they’re British trained stayers stepping back. Bravemansgame has no problems settling.

He’s the one for me next season
                            Loadanof experience
                            good jumper
just short of proper top quality

A horse that, in previous season, appear to need to have the hand break up to get 3 miles

problematic last season, first run didn’t go to play and probably push too much on prep run, betfair chase just added to that. Ran well considering in the KG.

                            breathing op
hopefully a easier start to season, decent run in KG before going for Ryanair

Will the Ryanair be better than last year? Nothing from the market principals (that will actually turn up) that really stands out this far out.

Dunno how you can watch back his King George win and say he has never had a change of gears?

Looking at BMG's season last year, he was just touched off in a Charlie hall when about 10% fit, ran well in the Betfair chase and was unlucky in the King George when badly hampered and was a little disappointing in the Gold Cup. RPR's of 170, 167 and 172 recorded last season suggests that he'd be bang in with a chance in a Ryanair if producing similar figures this season,

Royal Pagaille is even slower than Hewick, Fastorslow is the second best staying chaser in training that’s bested the best we’ve seen in years right handed three times on the bounce. The 10/1 & then 8/1 that was available for him was an absolute steal for the last few months since Martin Brassil named his target.

That's even before the French raider confirmed his well being last week. Willie will undoubtedly send over a couple of unexposed types that will have better squeaks too for me. Bravemansgame will be found out this Christmas bar a blanket ferry strike.

The same applies to his Ryanair chances for me too!
