It's probably the same (nothings changed except State Mans followers have got their hopes up) as it was when deciding which mare will race in the mares and which in the Champion.
I see only one scenario where Lossiemouth goes for the Mares, and that's if Brighterdaysahead commits to the Champion, and even then they might still give it a go, but would have plenty of excuses if they bottled the 2 year plan ! (fall last time, townend ride, easy race, reigning champ etc)
Unless we get a surprise announcement in the run up to the races, this might be like the hokey fucking cokey on declarations day I reckon.
Lets hope C Hill stays sound otherwise the melt down on here when Gino swaps course will be phenomenal.

I think (as has been said), any 'excuse' to not run Lossiemouth kind of disappeared with Willie not saying it straight after - that was the perfect time on the back of a fall
I suppose she could be working poorly like Vautour and 'not even sure to run' kind of thing, before going Mares.... maybe to try and move BDA to the CH?
Over thinking that I think
Day 1 4x odds on shots

Patrick said Lossie is a bit sore and feeling sorry for herself today. The more I’ve seen it the worse it gets. Wouldn’t be the biggest shock if it’s left a little mental scar (at least initially) and ideally you’d want a confidence booster. Not sure you’d choose running against CH for that

All things being equal in terms of all the potential participants turning up (and being biased by my bets!), I'd have it something like:
Lossiemouth - 80% Champion 20% Mares
Brighterdaysahead - 10% Champion 90% Mares
Absolutely everything hinges on Constitution Hill.

100% agree about the Constitution Hill factor. Hope he turns up!

BDA has produced the highest RPR this season of the potential Churdle horses so why be scared of CH ?

I'm pretty sure Gordon, Eddie & Michael pay little attention to RPR's.

He's a much better horse than literally anything that ever run in the Mares Hurdle, let alone what will run in it this season..... ergo, you must know the answer
....... but I agree, they shouldn't run scared

I have it much closer to 50/50 as to BDA going Champion or Mares. I think the ground will play some part and skipping the DRF was a positive for me as to going Champion as they didn't want her to have a hard run before Cheltenham. If they were going Mares and Lossiemouth then goes Champion then BDA would have 20lb in hand currently on RPRs. They could of run her in the Irish Champion and still easily won the Mares even if a stone below her best. They have saved her as they want a 100% performance and is because they are now aiming her at the Champion Hurdle...

Little surprised nothing has been made of the pace Lossiemouth set at the DRF. She was considered outpaced at Christmas behind Burdett Road over the first mile and a half. She had certainly now been taught to race at a quicker pace and to my eye Statement was starting to race at a pace outside his comfort zone and looked really tired at the end of the race. Provided she has got over her fall she is going to be a proper danger to Constitutional Hill in March.
