    • I very much doubt she'd be able to produce that performance again in the CH but she does deserve to be given the chance. I stick by what I said before, she'd have blown any horse away on Sunday. Nothing would have lived with her. Now and again everything falls into place for these top horses to produce something like that and Sunday was her day. Without question it was the best performance by any hurdler so far this season and probably won't be bettered.

who did you take the 5-1 with ?
        7-1 in hills specials,
just in case you had room to switch

Corals so no room. 7/1 is an incredible price.

            • I know you might strike while the iron is hot with BDA in this race but seeing she is only so young i don’t see the harm is going for the Mares now and then waiting for the CH in 12 months time.

She should be even better by then and CHill being about 9 would be on the downgrade. It hasn’t always worked out going this race with a top stable/owner star as seen in that Apples Jade year i wouldn’t rush her for it.

They have said she definitely goes chasing next season, I believe?

162 the BHA gave him. Lossiemouth 150 so 4 pounds below the best rating they've given her in the UK.

                        • State Man......

Jockey Paul Townend said the gelding felt below his best in the aftermath, but Mullins thinks the winner was “exceptional” on the day.

He said: “He had probably worked a little bit that way, but we’re used to that with him, except he has performed better on the track whereas he didn’t perform.

"Then again, the winner produced an exceptional performance. By the end of the season we might be saying there was no shame."

                          Lossiemouth...

State Man’s defeat was one of a handful of disappointing efforts for Mullins over the Christmas period, with Ballyburn easily defeated by Sir Gino in the Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase at Kempton and Lossiemouth also having to settle for second behind the returning Constitution Hill in the Christmas Hurdle at that track.
A possible rematch between the latter pair is a possibility in the Unibet Hurdle at Cheltenham on Trials Day (January 25), although Mullins – who fired in an across-the-card six-timer on New Year’s Day – also has the Dublin Racing Festival on his radar for Lossiemouth.

He added: “She’s been good and I’ve been happy enough with all our horses coming back from Leopardstown as well.

“We’ll look at the International Hurdle or coming back to Leopardstown, we’ll see how things go.

“They are the only races those horses can run in so we have to look at them. It’ll be one or the other or one in each place.”

                          • Constitution Hill pushed out a bit with a few tonight. Maybe an overreaction to his Xmas Hurdle win?

Yeah, been drifting a fair bit on the exchanges.

Re-watching the race, even allowing for Constitution Hill to come on for the run, Lossiemouth was closing slowly at the finish a little. She's had a fair bit of E/W support and exchange support in recent days, so something had to give and Constitution Hill went odds on which was probably too short for one win!

                              • Where do you think she'll have her prep COD? I'm hoping she goes International again but they do have Anzadam to place somewhere as well. Has to be odds on that State Man goes DRF and don't see Lossie running against him there. I'd rather they gave her a confidence booster at Cheltenham. She was brilliant there last year.
