Perhaps to be expected after just 1 race since April 23

Lossiemouth didn't really look like a proper 2 miler. Seemed to be going a stride quicker than she wanted to.
I think that sums it up rather well.
Lossie has never been asked to run that quick so early in a race before and it looked like it was uncomfortable for her, suggesting to me that at the top
level she needs to go a pace slower and be better off at a further distance.
If Con Hill weren’t around she may get away with it, as others recently have and win a CHurdle, or even two in Honeysuckle’s case.
CH should benefit from a first run for a year, and hopefully will get back into the 170’s.

    • I'm not a huge fan of Kempton form for evaluating Cheltenham chances. In my view, RPR's surprisingly conservative ratings were a good counterpoint to some of the gushing euphoria elsewhere in the RP and I think they got it just about right. It was still a fine performance from Constitution Hill and gives hope of maybe 170 in March which might well be enough to win. However, it was worrying to hear Henderson musing on whether he'd be able to get in another run before then and leaves the lingering impression that it has been far from easy getting him fit while keeping him sound. I wouldn't be wanting to take odds on about him without having nrnb backup.

Well the time to back him was to take a chance a little while back , when for a horse like him the odds were big.
Now I agree I would want nrnb to take odds on , but I dare say there’s some braver than myself that will snap up current odds. He could be a lot shorter come March.

When CH drifted after the bad gallop and rumours of retirement were mentioned i topped up a few times at decent prices, i know a few others on here also did (not after timing as was talked about on here) still gotta get there, obviously but I'm glad i did (at the moment) !

Everyone thought the CH gallop was a disappointment, but it just turned out Gino's a machine. I topped up myself and felt the double made sense. Hopefully they stay sound now.

Unfortunately i talked myself out of the double, with hindsight i should have gone in on it but luckily i have got both covered in singles. I can't say i wasn't worried about CH making the champion hurdle so did cover SG for that race as well as the arkle.

                  • I've just seen the Willie interview after the Lossiemouth defeat. Sounded disappointed that she couldn't go the gallop with them, early on, however, expects a stiffer track like Cheltenham to suit (no shit!).

Said the Champion Hurdle was 2 years of planning, so that tells you exactly how far Willie plans ahead for some of his horses at least, but it also tells me she could still well end up in the Champion Hurdle as well.

I know she went out to 8's but I missed that and just had some of the 7's available.

She goes to Leopardstown or the International and provided she doesn't run into Constitution Hill again, I think she wins either and that's her back on track for a tilt at the Champion Hurdle.

I would agree Lossie is a great horse for each way multis…

Yep she has to win either for sure.
Be interesting if she faced SM but I don’t see that happening. If she lost to him, then that’s it as far as CHurdle goes.
Think they would prefer the Intl, although CH might go there if he wants another run.

I think he’s right that Cheltenham would suit her better, but the pace will probably be similar so she would still be struggling to go the gallop.
Its the 2m pace at the top level that’s the key.
Con Hill can cruise at that and quicken off it, as top 2milers can.
Lossie will stay on but will be too far behind to catch him, from what I’ve seen.
Agree she’s likely to place if current odds appeal.
It’s Not my sort of e/w bet, I want a fair chance of winning at those odds, but fair enough if it is for some.

Just to add…. On a personal note, I really hope she does run, it would add to the build up, which I always enjoy and would add to the race.
I want BDA to run as well, for same reasons.

                        Bloody Mares Hurdle!!
Said it before, have that race some other time other than the festival.

                              It was never ever dead.

Keith Melrose has another good piece about Constitution Hill in the Racing Post as well. Far from over.
