  • Patrick on her surely means likely non runner. Danny Mullins has been excellent recently.

      • Townend has always been loyal to the Donnellys and vice versa, and you could hardly hop off a prolific winner like State Man. Paddy has always got the Ricci's horses if they're available. So nothing surprising about that.

        • Amazes me the amount of owners who stand for the nonsense with Patrick.

i mean theres leaving it to the trainer and then there's that, having an amateur jockey on your horse in big races because he's the trainers son, while there's a pro in danny who's a much better jockey and could easily be riding, watching on from the stands.

They go down to state man by half a length and then think what..... "Danny probably would have won that, but we have to be nice to patrick"

          • If have been surprised if Townend had picked Lossie. He almost always goes with the tried and tested option. State Man’s going for his third Morgiana on the bounce. Lossie has to get to his level this season not vice versa.

I’m always surprised when PM is on these good horses when their are much better jockeys around that are actually pro’s.

SM is 5/5 at Punch as well. Lossiemouth possibly better LH and on stiffer track?

                  • Lets hope she runs and we close to Evs on State Man. Be having a decent go at anything around that price.

Be careful. She's very, very good you know.

Agreed, you could ride her and she'd beat State Man.

30 years ago I'd have made a seriously good jump jockey. No issues doing 10 stone even though I stand 6 feet tall. Fit as you like as well. Different story now.

That said, I'm shit scared of horses so maybe it wouldn't have gone too well.....

                              • I started riding at 57 and stopped at 59. Never fell off but realised that you don't bounce as well when you pass 60.
