‘Big bet’ my **** ! Why not announce what the amount was ? ……Oh but they can’t because it will show how little it takes to move a price and what low liabilities they will lay on one horse to one customer.

Bookie announces big bet on horse

        Horse 'shortens' in their market

Sheep blindly back him due to 'that' big bet

Horse now shorter than previous, when nothing has even happened.

        Classic bookmaking.

Bet it was like £50. They should have to say how much it was.

Does anyone remember 'the good old days' when they used to publish the full results in The Sporting Life newspaper along with the on-course bets? There would regularly be £10K, £20K, £50K cash bets placed at The Festival. Some of the punts on Martin Pipes horses were legendary. I remember seeing one bet of £80K and one bet of £100K on Sabin Du Loir in the 89 Arkle and thinking 'wow'. He was beaten into 3rd so in this instance the cash went in the bookies satchel. They won some and they lost some.
Online bookies nowadays are a joke. They only prey on the vulnerable. Parasites.

What’s also funny, Paddy Power had him shorter at 13/8 and have drifted him to 7/4

What has changed to cause the drift, it’s actually just pathetic now. Just a load of robots (traders) finding ways for people not to try and make money gambling.

I just can’t believe they get away with what they do. They need to regulate these online bookies, only way to level the playing field.

I think it was me who caused the price cut on Constitution Hill, I know we don't usually mention how much we put on but i put a tenner on at boosted odds of 21/10 with Ladbrokes the other day so I'm guessing I'm the big hitter !

Cheers GV. Just £500 shifts the market. Bookies are skint as well these days.

I watched a vid on youtube a few days ago , interview with Barry Dennis ., .
He was saying , he used to post the days bet's for his old man , on the way to school .
As long as the envelope had a pre 10 am Postmark on it , the bookie honoured the bets . !! .
                        Obviously , Those day's are Long Gone .... .

Think there's a few dotted about on here who are or have been traders and will know better generally, but I do know it takes a bit over 3k (not mine...) to move a National League Top 7 price with Denise which is about 2.99k more than I expected.

5k was the original bet requested though which probably caused the knee jerk reaction.
